    Greetings and salutations right back to everyone...the 78 has a good foundation. frame is solid...no rust on bed or cab. Engine is as old and tired as I am and pulling the tranny to install a new torque converter and have it checked out...

    Thanks for all the info. Really appreciate it. Need to run another test as I did everything but get the engine to normal running temps...then do the wet test. Altitude is about 900’.

    Couldn't find any info on compression test results and lacking the experience of many of you, what should I be looking at for possible problems with these numbers: 1 = 121...2 = 130...3 = 135...4= 131...5 = 150...6 = 135...7 = 136...8 = 134. any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Dutch. Determining flywheel size would be a good place to start. It would answer some questions too. I did read that starter bolt pattern can determine flywheel size. My starters, both old and new have diagonal bolt pattern, which indicates 168. Is this true?
