    Silence

Looking for suggestions, opinions and/or product. My 78 came with a solid dual exhaust system. It's still in very good condition but it's LOUD. I really can't afford to install a complete new exhaust, as much as I'd like to, so.... I've read about installing silencers to stuffing steel wool...

    Soften the ride.

Good day gentlemen, non- gentlemen, rednecks and to those not covered by the previous 3 descriptions. UPDATE: I have made the following tweaks, mods and repairs this past long winter. NOTHING... I'm still considering options for softening the ride on this beast that several people said they...

    Soften the ride.

Thanks for the input. Appreciate it. Decided I won't be doing much until winter. Not sure if I will go with a newer soft ride springs or just remove some leaves, replace bushings and get the leaves cleaned up and painted. Also not sure which shocks I'll be adding.

    Soften the ride.

Front springs 4 pack leaf springs and rear are 52". Tires are Dick Cepeck Trailer Country 33x12.5. I know tires play a part in ride softness but this won't be changed until I need to replace them. I'm assuming that cutting the leaf is hot and miss. One cut and test?

    Soften the ride.

After 3 years of part time work, I have my "new" K15 on the road. Everything under the hood is new, rebuilt the 700R4 and numerous other tweaks. It passed vehicle inspection and I was ready for some touring. Well, I live back in the woods on a dirt road, connected to a bumpy, pot hole ridden...

    T case issue?

How much allowable play in the pinion yoke is tolerable? Pulled the diff cover and found no metal in the gear oil, everything seems tight when spinning the wheels but I can rotate the yoke about 1/4" + - so I'm assuming pinion bearing?

    T case issue?

Thanks for the input. Got some detective work to do now.

    T case issue?

Good day. As I am not able to diagnose some issues, I would like some help. My 78 K15 has a 208C t case. When putting the truck in gear, I get a loud and rough banging sound. I checked the universal joints and they seem tight with no slop, but I can turn the rear driveshaft about an inch. I...

What have you done to your square lately??

Pulled it out of winter storage and freshened up the paint. Runs very well with the new 350 crate engine. That project I did last winter.

    Interior insulation part 2

Been reading posts about interior insulation (heat and sound) and find there are options. Didn't see anything on spray on products such as Lizard Skin. Seeing my 78 doesn't have A/C and anything over 85 sucks, I need to do some major interior upgrades. Any opinions on the spray on stuff?

    Rebuilt 700R4

Somewhat... enough to order a torque converter. So hopefully, I'll have the crate engine swapped in by the end of the week.

    Rebuilt 700R4

Good morning. I have a 700R4 that has had the numbers ground off. I'm assuming that the driver's side metal tag on the tranny indicates a rebuild. Is there a way to decide this tag. Top of tag reads: MD M1 Bottom of tag: Left side: 6204 Right side: 13563 Any information will be greatly...

    Push button ignition

Thanks for all the info. Push buttons arriving today. One for the 78 and another for a winter beater Cherokee. Y'all have a great week.

    Push button ignition

Hope all is well with everyone and y'all are prepped for all that white stuff coming soon. I have a question on installing a push button ignition (hidden) and have seen these installs using a relay and also without a relay. If one was to connect the push button between the solenoid and the...

    instrument cluster

Picked up a decent original instrument cluster and bezel for my 78 gmc k15 as what came with the truck was an aftermarket cluster that doesn't look right. And really doesn't fit right either. The original cluster is missing several lights and the main connector that plugs into the circuit...

    1983 k5 blazer starter grinding!

Glad I found this post....now my whining/questions... I am working on a 78 GMC k15. 350 with 700rh. Here's my dilemma. I cannot for the life of me get the flex plate and started to line up and mesh correctly. It produces a horrific grinding sound. I've shimmed several different times but...

    Brake conversion

After a long cold winter where working in an unheated shop kinda sucks, I'm getting back in the saddle and continuing this build. Wanting to convert from drum to disc on a 78 k15. Looked at numerous kits ranging from $400 to $1000+. Would like some tried and true recommendations as to...
