Precision windshield gasket, self locking or lock strip?

I did mine with that style as well. It was a VERY slow process, done an 1/8" at a time. The locking strip one HAS to be easier. Everything I read was to use the Precision brand seals. Mine doesn't leak, or I haven't seen a leak. It was just a very slow process tucking that strip into itself

    MY-6 \ A833 to NV3500 Swap behind LS

Ok, all the parts fit, sort of, but more on that later. The clutch master cylinder mounted to the firewall over the speedometer hole. I made a small backing plate to stiffen the firewall some in that area. A 1-1”4 hole saw was about perfect. To mount the pushrod I made a plate that used...

    MY-6 \ A833 to NV3500 Swap behind LS

It was fine behind the 6.0. I think my whole list of issues came from the pressure plate mating to the LS flywheel and possibly the smaller clutch diameter I purchased. The nv3500 just went for a test drive and it’s worlds better engagement and general smoothness. I’m sure my MY6/MM7 needs...

What new tools have you got lately?

Does a workshop count? They pour concrete tomorrow. 40’x60’. I’m setting 40’x48’ of it up as a workshop space. The rest is a full bathroom with the rest a hangout space with a small kitchen.

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the new transmission mounted up the the LS and the crossmember mounted. Rant the hydraulic line and installed the slave cylinder. Patched the old shifter hole and cut in the new one and attached the shifter tower to the trans. Pretty much need to install the master cylinder on the...

    MY-6 \ A833 to NV3500 Swap behind LS

Transmission is mounted to the LS. The stock transmission crossmember for the MY6 fit the NV3500 and I was able to use some existing holes in the frame to mount it. I did have to cut off most of the part of the crossmember that wrapped up on the side of the frame since it was hitting the gas...

    6.0 NV4500 K30 swap

I can maybe fit a 3/8" ratchet with a standard depth socket on it behind my engine(LQ4) to firewall. I used the ICT brackets for sbc to ls, not the plates. the plates have more adjustability.

    MY-6 \ A833 to NV3500 Swap behind LS

Figured I would Post my project. Background, I swapped in a 6.0 LQ4 into my 81 C-10. It had a 305 with a MY-6 3 speed with Overdrive manual behind it. On the engine swap I kept the stock SBC engine placement with adapters and the manual clutch linkage. I used a Sachs NFW 1050 flywheel...

What have you done to your square lately??

pretty sure that's what I used. 1 can did the tank (i think) and then used a second to get all the frame and cab that the tank will hide.

What have you done to your square lately??

When I replaced my tank for the LS swap I coated the new tank with several coats of bed liner/undercoat, same with the straps separately, I then added a pretty thick strip of adhesive backed rubber to the tank in the strap locations. I went a bit overkill and added some of the same rubber to...

What have you done to your square lately??

I ordered a new clutch kit and the parts to change over to a hydraulic slave cylinder. Switching out the 4 speed overdrive manual to a NV3500. I was driving it at lunch 2 weeks ago and felt a clunk and after that it felt like the clutch was slipping if I didn't baby it. On the way home that...

    Looking At A 2005 Z71 4x4

Only issue I have ever had with my 04 is the AC/Heater is the weakest system I have had in a GM vehicle. my 04 Blazer and 97 GMC, 2001 and 2010 cars all have better AC and heat. Actually the heat on all of those will run you out of the vehicle after a bit. the AC in the 97 will freeze you.

    Looking At A 2005 Z71 4x4

I have a 04 z71 extended cab, Had it since 07 and it had 36k miles on it when i bought it, 175k now. Wheel bearings went out around 100k. I had to replace the transfer case at 150k (my fault for not servicing it regularly and it ran dry). If its a 4 button transfer case, those where pretty...

Thinking about a new smaller steering wheel, comfort grip or forever sharp?

Saw a tip somewhere else that said to use the "tub'o'towels" (I think that's what they are called) to clean up the old steering wheel... something about the cleaner in them breaking down the sticky stuff and getting it removed which most other cleaners won't do.

What have you done to your square lately??

Took the truck to town on Sunday for a shake down run. Gas tank filled and ran it home. Took care of a few more small details and threw it back on the road for an evening cruise down my road and I was hearing some roaring. Realizing I never touched the wheel bearings when I got the truck and...

    04 LM7 into 87 K5

The VSS in the trans (before the Tcase) will read the same speed regardless of the T-case being in high or low. The ECM(PCM) uses VSS for shift tables. I don't think you can use a switch to adjust that.
