    Quadrajet

About $500, no core charge and more than worth it to me. Here is a picture before the rebuild. I haven't had any problems and I use the truck 4-5 times a week.

If you are still looking, try "Carburetors Unlimited", (623) 388-0990 or cell/text (623) 399-0179; [email protected]; [email protected]. Back in 2022, he told me that he had over 600 q-jets. He has the GM books and can tell you what carb number your truck came with. He sent me a picture of the...

    R4 compressor re-seal help

I am resealing an R4 compressor and failed to place mark the nose cone (part that holds the shaft seal and shaft bearing). Can anyone tell me what position the hole inside the nose cone needs to go, top or bottom of the compressor. I figure its purpose is to drain the oil that lubricates the...

    Oil consumption?

Thanks again, Rick. Which filter are you referring to, air, canister, or? As for the fuel happener thingy, I'm really confused now. How the hell is the thing correctly spelled? Am I going to have to ask Seri (sp)?

    A/C Compressor, again.

Of course, this is a NOS R4 with mineral oil and made for R12. 134a requires PAG oil so the whole system was thoroughly flushed and the orifice tube, accumulator and evaporator were replaced.

    Oil consumption?

Thanks Rick, I will give that a shot. I replaced the pcv valve when I started this project but with the quality of parts these days, one never knows. I'm thankful to hear from some of you older guys, not to take anything away from the younger ones. I'm referring to when you joined the forum.

    Oil consumption?

The truck was purchased new by a construction company for the owners dad to run errands and check on the field crews from time to time. It was also used as a spare while other company trucks were being serviced or repaired. I went to work for the company in February 1992 and have most of the...

    Oil consumption?

Does anyone know what the average/acceptable oil consumption might be for a 5.0L "H" series engine with 65k miles? When I started work on this original and stock truck (52.4K), a compression check showed #1 @ 175 and the remaining cylinders @ 180-190 psi. A small amount of soot accumulates in...

    A/C Compressor, again.

From the information I have gathered over the years, I believe the original Harrison GM R4 was a good and reliable unit as long as it wasn't worn out. That is why I looked around and found a NOS R4 on Ebay and I'm going to stay with it. Once I get all of the rubber parts replaced, I believe...

    A/C Compressor, again.

The system has had 143a and FIVE (5) of those crap SMP R4 compressors. This is A NOS GM compressor that was designed for mineral oil and R12. The PAG oil that was substituted to work with 143a obviously reacted with the original old rubber parts inside the compressor to cause the slow leaking.

    A/C Compressor, again.

what other way is there to separate the case from the compressor in-order to replace the large front and back o-rings? There is a special tool for that operation. In addition, there is another special tool for removing the clutch which looks better than using a three arm puller.

    A/C Compressor, again.

I recently had my auto repair shop install a NOS Harrison GM R4 compressor. They also replaced the evaporator, accumulator, orifice and also removed the condenser to make it easier to thoroughly flush it. Judging from the compressor part number (12328615) I figure it has been in the box and on...

    Gauge cluster information lights

Thanks for the reply. My seat belt wires are not connected so we would be the same. I guess we better always keep a close eye on the gauges.

    Gauge cluster information lights

Just a quick question; my pretty much stock setup has all mechanical gauges so to settle my curiosity, can anyone tell me what lights should come on when I turn the ignition switch to the "on" position? Right now, the only

    Driver door will NOT unlock............Ideas?

Hey everyone, just FYI. I'm bad and should have tried the reference library first. Thanks to the Similar threads section below, Steve (stvaughn) replied to a thread on June 18,2025 and because of his message, I was able to quickly get the door unlocked. My problem was not with the black button...

Drivers door will not unlock all the sudden.

Hey Steve, You saved my bacon and a lot of time, money and grief with your post and I thank you very much. I had noticed a tiny bit of rubber sticking out of the bottom of the handle below the button so after reading your message, I went outside and pulled out on the black button and voila, the...

    Driver door will NOT unlock............Ideas?

I met some friends for lunch the other day and when I tried to unlock the door, the key would not turn counter clockwise. I opened the passenger door and was barely able to clear the aftermarket console to get in the drivers seat. I drove to an old established locksmith, ran down the power...

    700R4 fluid level

I recently checked the fluid level, engine running in park and fluid hot. Will anything be harmed if I leave the level about 3/16" above the full mark? Also, I sealed the hole in the center of the cap on the back of the slip yoke to prevent leaking from time to time. Will this damage anything...

    Tire valve stem dimension

Just a lousy 1/2” so I don’t have to remove the trim rings twice a year to adjust tire pressure from temperature change. I’m on my sixth year with these tires and probably have about four or five years left on them. I appreciate your help and concern.

    Tire valve stem dimension

Thanks everyone, two reasons an extension won't work: 1. the shortest extension sticks out too far and 2. those extensions are not threaded for a cap so I can't use the really cool caps that my son gave to me which a bow tie on the end.

    Tire valve stem dimension

Does anyone know what the tire valve stem hole diameter is for a stock '84 C10 wheel? I want a little longer valve stem to make it easier to add air without removing the trim rim. I saw a kit on Amazon which allows removal of the valve stem without taking the wheel off and breaking the bead. Has...

    Ball joint

Earlier in my posts, I reported that I removed the right b-j fitting and before inserting it on the left side, I took a pick and stirred it around in the hole and there was nothing but fresh grease in there. That fitting didn't help so I replaced it with a new one. Believe me, I am not going to...
