Help identify this np205 transfer case

Based on the adapter it’s an 84 or older 10 spline GM unit off of a 4spd.

Quick Fuel / Holley leakage around needle

I’m just wondering if there is a hole where it shouldn’t be allow fuel to push up the vent. I can’t remember if there are other passages to the vent to other than the breather thing at the top.

Quick Fuel / Holley leakage around needle

Not the whole bowl assembly, just swap the needle/seat.

Quick Fuel / Holley leakage around needle

Great points to check! The needle/seats are interchangeable, aren’t they? If so, swapping front to rear would verify if that’s the problem (extra work to reset the float heights though).

    What type of transmission

If you’re concerned with the different look of the linkage find an exploded illustration from a repair manual (especially an older GM book), they’re usually relatively accurate.

    What type of transmission

I wouldn’t worry about what pics show unless you’re absolutely sure it’s a square body. That first pic (with the hand) shows brake line fittings pointing straight down, that’s not a square body master cylinder. Compare apples to apples.

    What type of transmission

I don’t know the model of the 3 spd used in squares but the linkage looks typical to me.

    Trailer tires

I put tires on our little 2 horse trailer last year, original was 215 but I stepped up to a 225 because the weight rating was a bit higher for the same load range. No harm done as long they don’t rub. Trailer tires SUCK. If they are reasonably priced they’re foreign junk, if they’re good...

    Fender antenna debacle

Yes but it’s further forward on top of the fender. I’ve never seen it uncovered but the hole is likely small because of the size of the base. @88K5 this looks like a great time to close that hole up.

Spindle nuts, what am i doing wrong?

That the correct order and, you’re right, that’s a camber shim. The shim must be pretty thick to make that much difference in the amount of threads sticking out of the nut. For the suggestion that the studs may have backed out some, you might be able to see them from the u-joint side of the...

Spindle nuts, what am i doing wrong?

Make sure you have the parts assembled in the correct order. Iirc, if they are in the wrong order the parts won’t lay flat.

    4180 conversion from 4 speed

    1) 4L80, that’s not a one. 2) unless you got the trans/tcase/crossmember from a 1991 square body, the crossmember is not going to bolt up and the tcase front output is on the wrong side. 3) the transmission will require a stand alone controller or a manual valve body.

    dust cover

@84GMCSierra You need to specify if you’re looking for a thin tin cover or the thicker aluminum cover with the motor mount support bar bosses.

    56" unloaded spring height?

If 11” is from the center of the eyes to the bottom of the pack where it touches the axle, that’s close to C + D.

Why do Americans hate drain plugs? Drive line oil change queries.

The torque converter will hold most of the fluid, not really much you can do about it other than drain / refill / repeat until the fluid looks good but that can get expensive. For the average service with not preexisting problems, draining the pan, changing the filter and refilling are all...

I don’t think the point is “how”, it’s “why not”.

Why do Americans hate drain plugs? Drive line oil change queries.

Trust me, Americans LOVE drain plugs, it’s the manufacturers that hate them. (saving pennies for profit)

NP203 fluid and which driveline oils confirmation

To clarify, with the locking hubs unlocked, if you have to put the tcase in a “LOC” position to get it to move it is still full time 4wd. You need to test it like this because lots of trucks had the drive flanges swapped for locking hubs without the part time conversion installed in the tcase...

NP203 fluid and which driveline oils confirmation

FWH? Is that a reference to locking hubs? Put the tcase in 2wd hi with the locking hubs unlocked, if it acts like it’s in neutral it’s still full time 4wd.
