    1985 k1500 4x4 front wheel spacers 1/4 inche needed

Parts stores used to carry slip on 1/4” spacers, have you looked? Be careful not to run out of adequate stud length.

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

When you have a chance, I’d love to see pics. I’ve never seen one.

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

@Scruffy49 I’ve had a min to look do some googling and wanted to clarify - when you say your parts truck has a line lock do you mean it’s got a valve of some sort in the brake fluid line itself or is this something for air brakes?

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

Can you post a pic of the brake line lock? I’ve never seen a factory one. If you’re parting the truck I’d be interested in it if it looks like it will fit my Blazer.

    Dana 60 axle play

@Trucksareforwork you killed the pinch bolt on the pitman arm? If so, grab a grade 8 bolt and lock nut from a hardware store and Google the torque based on bolt diameter. I usually just run it down with my air gun a few ugga duggas. I’d bet the 180 ftlbs is for a 2wd pitman arm.

Odd cable/control going to foot feed.

I actually found one about a year ago, I believe mine is from a mid/late 70’s truck but I’m not sure. Mine has a bell crank that puzzle pieces in to the gas pedal bracket. Interestingly enough, the dash in my ‘91 still had the holes already there to mount it.

    1980ish K10 3 lights then 1 light on press

If it’s got 4 headlights, the front end (and probably the harness) is off of a later year.

    1980ish K10 3 lights then 1 light on press

If your search wiring diagrams you really need to identify the year. 1980 is the older front end with only 2 headlights. 1981-82 are the newer front end but still only 2 headlights. You couldn’t get a 4 headlight set up until at least 1983.

    Problems with new clutch material

@JBswth so this is a granny 4spd (sm465), correct? If so, 1st gear is not synchronized like 2nd through 4th so by design it will not just fall in to gear.

    Alignment and tire pressure question

Tire pressure will obviously affect how flat the tread sits on the ground and wheel width is also a big factor. I run 22 psi in my 40” Boggers on 11” wide wheels. The tread is pretty flat but the low pressure makes the tires squishy/soft which translates to a boat-ish feel on the road. Being...

    Starter gets stuck

It sounds harsh but the reality is it’s not shined correctly (if it needs it at all).

    track bar for 1987 V2500

I highly recommend NOT lowering the tcase. Lowering the tcase crossmember tilts the engine/trans/tcase since it doesn’t change the engine’s location, this makes the front yoke operating angle worse.

    track bar for 1987 V2500

I get what you’re saying BUT your choice to use shims or not or which direction needs to be focused on caster first since steering is more important. If the pinion angle is bad you can always fix it with high angle yokes and/or driveshaft parts.

What new tools have you got lately?

I like the idea of vertical storage for jack stands to save space but it seems like they’d stick out too far, especially bigger stands.

    Castor shims

You need to measure the current caster of the axle.

    Castor shims

On the front axle, the thick end of the shim should be towards the front bumper.

    Castor shims

Measure Measure Measure Just because it has shims doesn’t mean it needs them or that they’re correct. The correct answer requires research on your part.

    Dust cover won’t fit

Yes, there’s a cover that will fit. I recently read that the covers are different between 1 and 2 pc covers and I believe 4L80E covers are different too.

    track bar for 1987 V2500

“Diving” implies suspension movement, not steering. Maybe give a clearer explanation of what it’s doing and when. I agree with bucket, there’s no need for a track bar - there’s something that needs to be fixed.

In addition to gas, these jugs are great for taking old oil to a parts store, etc to dispose of it.

    Crossmember qustions

If I’m not mistaken, the crossmember on the left is an 81-84 version (indicated by the bottom lips being irregular shaped vs the straight edges on the right. I’ve been trying to figure out what dictated the style on the right that wraps up the side of the frame, I’m thinking it’s either...

    Th400 to standard transmission

The sm465 4spd is the most common manual found in square (original or swapped) but that’s probably because they’re cheap compared to a 4500 and easier to plug & play. The 4500 is probably the best choice and, if 32 spline, wouldn’t be difficult to adapt to the tcase behind your th400.
