    Tire damage

This ^^^ If you've ever worked in a tire store you've seen a lot worse drive away. Is it right? Not really. Is it junk? Not really. Definitely glue or vulcanize that flap down to somewhat seal it. Moisture could get inside the layers and cause the steel belts to rust which would lead to...

    Firewall mounted terminals

It is a distribution block. Constant power is fed to it from the fuse block (via harness junction block plug on the firewall below the wiper motor) and then, typically, it may feed the starter, alternator, etc depending on the year model, options, etc. Some of the outgoing wiring would have had...

    72 nova turbo 400 to 84 chevy k20 compatible?

Maybe…. Is it a short or long tail 400? If it’s a short tail then with the tailcone removed the tailshaft should stick out 4.5” from the case. The 4.5” stick out will work with a PRE ‘85 np205 with a tall figure 8 style adapter and a 32 spline input shaft. What trans/tcase are you currently...

    What gears

It probably wouldn’t be unreasonable if the motor isn’t crazy. My 454 w/ qjet gets about 10 mpg’s running 55-60 mph (5.86 gears and 40’s). It gets less with other carbs.

Radiator question for an inline 6 250

No, typically they will have a pipe thread or flared type fitting.

    What gears

Having overdrive allows you to run more gear than the typical 3spd truck (of that era). Also having 35's now and wanting something bigger really means you need to be choosing a gear ratio for the future, not today (even if they are installed today). Gear swaps are expensive and require a certain...

    8' bed question

@idrivea2002golf I've been for one of those full diamond plate tailgate covers. If you budget that bed and we can figure out how to get it to Alabama I’m interested.

    85 K20 Scottsdale intermittent headlights

I struggled with no headlights on my Blazer for months that turned out to be a loose male spade connector in the engine compartment side of the wiring harness bulkhead plug. I fought this on the weekends for months and was at my wits end. I Hail Mary purchased a Power Probe and had it...

    8' bed question

As state, they should interchange. there are only 2 size beds, 6' and 8', anything else is likely custom or aftermarket conversion.

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

To be clear… The pre ‘85 205’s GM used had 2 different input shaft bearing sizes; 10 & 27 spline were small and the 32 spline is bigger. All of the ‘85+ GM 205’s had the big bearing because they’re all 32 spline.

Is it possible to get this?????

Maybe send the seller the original pic and see what he says. It's not like you have anything to lose.

    How to switch from a DRW to a SRW in a 1981 K30 / 350 engine / 3 speed manual / 4x4

As previously stated, you need to identify your rear axle. As for wheels, that’s a personal preference. The wheels need to fit 8x6.5 bolt pattern and be an appropriate backspacing to fit (about 4.5” or less), the width would be determined by the tire size and preference.

    How to switch from a DRW to a SRW in a 1981 K30 / 350 engine / 3 speed manual / 4x4

To accomplish your goal you’ll get rid of all 6 current wheels and replace them with 4 SRW wheels. The wheel offset is dramatically different between SRW and DRW.

    How to switch from a DRW to a SRW in a 1981 K30 / 350 engine / 3 speed manual / 4x4

The front is easy - Buy some single wheel bearing hubs and install them. The rotors are technically different part numbers but the different is the size of the stud holes, you can use the DRW rotors on an SRW hubs but you'll need to drill out the stud holes appropriately (likely an unusual...

    BBC heads??

Sorry, I misread the post where you said you had bought the AFR’s. I thought you were still shopping otherwise I’d have kept my mouth shut.

    BBC heads??

Unpopular opinion…. I absolutely would NOT go to the expense of putting aluminum heads on a sub 5k rpm motor, what’s the point? I would put that $3k elsewhere. Since you’re obviously not going to spin it any real amount (1400-4600rpm cam) I’d put $1k or so into so OE iron heads. I’d get some...

    NP205 4L80E conversion help

I don’t see anything special about the kit, it appears to use a modified copy of the pre ‘85 400/205 adapter with a threaded boss on the passenger side for the shifter pivot bolt. ‘91 squares could have had a 4l80e/205 and the shifter is in the same general spot as any other typical 205 combo...

stock front drive shaft and lift

I put 6" lift on my old crew cab and kept the stock driveshafts but the front was max'd out, this wasn't a problem though since I did not wheel it. The real problem was that it hit the exhaust crossover so I had to have that modified.

never jerk a stuck truck with a chain

You touched on another issue - "is the pin strong enough?" You'll be in a pickle if you ever bend the pin, you wont be able to get it (or the strap) out without cutting and beating on it for a while. The hot product now is kinetic ropes for yanking out stuck vehicles. The flat straps are...

Do we have a show us your shop thread?

For 20 years I crammed all my junk into our single car garage (look closely and you'll see my Blazer's frame w/ axles in there). Then fortunately / unfortunately someone "broke in" to my wife's Jeep in the driveway (soft top so the doors are always unlocked), needless to say she was pissed...
