Sun Timing Light on life support.

@hey mister do you have an MSD box or similar? These can cause erratic flashing.

1978 K10 auto to 4 spd manual swap

Fyi, there’s a low spot / concave area formed into the raised center of the crossmember (to the driver’s side of the mounting bushings in the pic) this is for clearance for the CV joint in the front driveshaft. You might need flip it around to clear the driveshaft, if it clears let it ride.

    Sm465/np205 short mount spacer?

The synchronized 205’s were used around ‘82-‘84ish.

    Sm465/np205 short mount spacer?

I’ve never matched the gaskets but my understanding is that big round bolt pattern is the same, sort of an industry standard type thing. I’ve been told that even the Fords use that pattern.

    Sm465/np205 short mount spacer?

@Strick the tcase adapter pictured is a short foot adapter which is ‘85+ and very different from the ‘84 and older stuff, note the 1 pc wide mounting bushing shown. The slip yoke assembly started around ‘78~’79, it’s not a marker for 1980 as it started before and was used in applications at...

    Dana 60 axle play

If you’re using nylon bushings I’d run that kin pin. If you’re going to bronze bushings then the grooves may accelerate wear. The lower king pin looked good, same deal as the uppers with respect to wear marks. Check the bearing the same as a wheel bearing - the race should be tight and no...

    Sm465/np205 short mount spacer?

The ‘85+ short foot adapter would be too short for a pre ‘85 flat crossmember with the dual bushings by probably 2.5”+.

    Dana 60 axle play

The problem with king pins is the torque value is like 600 ftlbs so if you go down that path make sure you’re ready. For me, I did not replace my king pins. Mine looked like your first pic, smooth and pretty. I probably wouldn’t replace mine unless they were cracked (check closely around the...

1978 K10 auto to 4 spd manual swap

@squaredeal91 you’re working on a ‘91, right? ‘85+ squares have imprints in the floor for the 4 spd hole and boot screw holes. The firewall will also have dimples for mounting the hydraulic pedal supports and the master cylinder.

    Squarebody Differentials.

Yeah, the hole on my D60 is accessible from inside the diff area. I tapped it to 1/8" npt without drilling, easy job.

    Squarebody Differentials.

My front axle didn't have the original vent tube so I tapped it and installed a screw in nipple. The housing was easy to tap and I held a paper towel with smeared grease on it under the hole to catch the shavings.

1978 K10 auto to 4 spd manual swap

If your 208 fit a 700r4, it can only be 27 spline. The input shaft can be swapped. Both 208’s and 241’s were available in 27 and 32 spline, input spline count is never an identifier for GM tcases.

1978 K10 auto to 4 spd manual swap

But your existing 208 is paired with a 700r4, correct? That would make it a 27 spline unit and the '84 4spd would be 32 spline. The adapter would be correct but you'd have to swap the tcase input shaft for a 32 spline part.

1978 K10 auto to 4 spd manual swap

Are the 4spd and 208 a preexisting combo? If not, make sure they both have the correct spline counts to work together.

    Roll bar bolts

The adhesive/epoxy is a great idea. The expanding rivets in the light bar I that eventually loosened up some, not enough to fall out but it squeaked and chafed the paint at the joints.

    Roll bar bolts

@Grit dog the roll bar itself it multi piece (look closely for the seams) so there’s holes for hardware to make it rigid otherwise it’s fairly loose.

    Hood Release

@Grit dog mine works fine, just thinking about it since it’s 35 years old. I figured if I replaced it (broken or not) an exterior release like my old K10 had would be nice and trouble free from then on. I also wish the cable was longer. Mine lays across the wheel well but I’d prefer a little...

Yeah, @Hilllbilly my release cable has always felt sketchy. I’d love to change to an exterior release lever but I’ve never seen one.

    Transfer case drop

@K5Rob Blazers are pretty short so I wouldn't be surprised if the rear axle needs to be shimmed to correct the pinion angle so it doesn't vibrate but you're not going to have major issues.

A sway bar drop is a good product, that you need to do.
