    success!!! got the brake lights back and everything else is working!!new turn signal switch did the trick!! Turns out the white wire on the switch side of the connection was broke and had melted down at some point. thanks again for all the info!! now on to a new master cylinder!!

    a little update, got the steering wheel and the locking plate off, found one of the springs on the old switch laying on the column housing, broken. seems to be a lot of grease, normal-not normal???     I did replace the light on the 4x4 floor cover with LED as well, I did not do the hvac and still have incandescents on the dome and courtesy lights. I did every bulb on the back of the dash cluster

    i bought this part number 194-CWCOB1W these were 135 lumen cool white. T3.25 miniature wedge base. the have a conversion table on their website. I called them when I ordered mine they were very helpful. this was not a kit, just individual bulbs. if ya go on the website it lists different bulbs...

I don't think I am gonna tear into it for that. fishing the wires into and out of the column will probably be the biggest pain, I think I will lowe r the column down a bit to get better access to the switch connector under the dash.seems awfully tight for...

    Well, since all roads for non working brake lights have led me to the turn signal switch. I am thinking about trying to replace it my self.     howdy!! I just did the relay mod for the power windows on my 87 gmc. LMC sells a kit and it is very easy to hook up, worst part is fishing the wires thru the door boot into the cab, I used a coat hanger and had good luck. It works very well!

    it was only 21.00 at LMC, and it specified with tilt wheel. NAPA and autozone didn't. all made in China these days anyway.

    nope!! I added some extra grounds, bed to frame, cab to frame,still no power to the brake lights. tried the wiggle on the turn signal and 4 ways, cleaned all the ground points---again!

    Before I changed the flasher, I had the left brake lights working,but not the right. Also did not have right turn signals. Once the flasher got changed, I got both turn signals working but have no brake lights,even on the left side that once was working.

    I I have completely disconnected the rear lights from the front of the truck.no brake light power.
