    In theory, can't I engage the overdrive in any gear? I know that is how it works with a Gear Vendors. It doesn't really matter though, since if I engaged it in 2nd, it would still be 1.05 to 1, not an overdrive.

    We decided to spruce the van up a bit yesterday. Did not really fix any holes yet, but we did grind down any loose rust/paint, and sprayed some rusty metal primer on it. (Also added a racing stripe) I also buffed where the clear coat had pealed with some boiled linseed oil. We're going to...

    Yes, that's me, and we spruced it up a bit yesterday. Did not really fix any holes yet, but we did grind down any loose rust/paint, and sprayed some rusty metal primer on it. (Also added a racing stripe) I also buffed where the clear coat had pealed with some boiled linseed oil.

    I love the paint scheme on you Burb. When I bought a new hood for my '74 it was red, and I liked how it contrasted with the ochre of my truck. Instead of painting the whole thing, I only painted up to the body lines, and it turned out really good.

    I had something similar on my '74. It drove me nuts for weeks. I eventually found that I had left my torque wrench under my seat, and that the needle thing was vibrating against the floor.

    I say that your best bet would be to go get yourself one used off craigslist of from a junkyard. Most people seem to install swap for a non-integral head, so reproductions don't seem to exist.

    Well, there is no inspection in Illinois, so he could drive it until it literially splits in half. But in all seriousness, I am going to brace up the body by welding some angle iron where the jack rail was. We don't want to spend a cent on this repair (the van doesn't deserve anything more)...

    Grille restoration

    I think I'll do the grille on my '74 soon. It's one sexy and rare grille, so I want to do it right. As far as I know, it is original to the truck, and it is in really good shape. All I am going to do is paint it and maybe reinforce it.
