    yes you should have vacuum / you should be able to access the vacuum lines by removing the glove box . I would start under the hood the vacuum lines tend to rot under the hood not so much under the dash.

    Our shop always used kyb with good results. I have bilsteins on my 05 Sierra and im happy with them, the fronts have over 100K miles and still going strong. Either one should work well.

    My opinion, our fuel tanks rust from the outside because of the plastic cover...

    another area to watch out for is the back of the front fenders, the drain holes pack with leaves and mud holding moisture in there. my 99.99% Arizona rust free truck ended up with rust bubbles there. Every now and then i check to be sure the drain holes are clear.

    when i rewired my engine compartment the ones i used are just a 6-8" piece of fusible link wire. add your own connectors and insulate with heat shrink tubing. here's mine with the links highlighted
