1987 V10 with carb and dual tanks will not stay running

I thought I read a few posts back that you replaced the switch already. Did you purchase a switch for a 1987 specifically??? You’re saying that you are only getting power to the switch valve when you hold the switch in. This sounds like you may have installed a pre 87’ switch???? From...

Horn blares when my ac high low fan switch comes on

Maybe start with the door switches. Pull them out, they should have an orange wire attached. They are ground activated. If they are broke, rusted or permanently grounded in the panel, that would do it

Horn blares when my ac high low fan switch comes on

My first thought is, WTF?? Second thought is, start with the basics. If someone crossed the HVAC over with the convenience center, your problem is under the dash not under the hood. I don’t know what year make or model you are working on, but maybe these will help.

    1985 GMC 305 Won’t Stay idling

Check the manifold gasket under the carburetor. I had the same engine. Started the way. If it’s pulling air past a bad gasket, it will never run

I’m wearing mine to club! Watching the panties fall off when I walk by. First girl to ask if I prefer Silverado or Sierra is a keeper.

Please don’t make this a pocket T-shirt. Throw a flag on the sleeve, and make sure it is a fitted T.

Look what followed me home yesterday

We have a diesel and a gas MF135. There is still really no replacement for them and the 230’s and 245’s. This 20-30 horse MF are irreplaceable with anything in the current market

This one looks like a MF135. 3 cylinder Perkins?? I love how you lost the cowl and painted the tank!!

Look what followed me home yesterday

Gas or diesel?? We have a Perkins gas 165. It gets used every day. All it does day in and day out is move irrigation winches. Starts on the first crank every time.

Can't find any info on this bolt needed

They are 15mm heads. Yep, metric bolts seem sacrilegious, but GM loves three things; 10mm bolts, 15mm bolts, and chrome plated plastic.

    in tank fuel pump

I cut up an old tractor intertube and sprayed it with contact cement and stuck them to the tank. Probably better than original.

1983 GMC K1500 electrical connector just above steering column near firewall identification help

This looks like the diagnostic port for the lockup TC. I think you are supposed to ground this out to manually disengage the lockup or something. I know on a 700R4 there is. Blue and green that engage and disengage the lock up TC from the vacuum switch Don’t hold me to it. Good luck

    Dual tank solenoid valve

81ish- 87 all used the same Pollack valve. Up until 1986 they were momentary switches and you held it down just long enough for the valve to move and the gauge wire to switch because the mechanical pumps were pulling fuel and not pushing like an electric pump. 87 with EFI turned to persistent...

You can’t get the pumps out even with the bed off. You need to drop the tanks.

    Struggling with my 700R4

They even put 700R4s in some of the K20’s and Almost all of the suburban. I have plowed snow with one for the past 40 years. Granted it’s low mileage but we just finally had to rebuild the transmission last year for the first time since new. And that is hooked to a 350hp small block. If you...

Adding second fuel tank and efi fuel pumps

Put a 40 gallon Burb tank in it and skip all the two tank switching horse ****. By the time you rewire, purchase another set of saddles, straps and new tank; re-plumb all the hoses, (do you have to drill the frame for passenger saddles?? I bet the holes are already there, but I don’t know) cut...

    Dual tank solenoid valve

$90 for a new tank is well worth it especially if you are replacing your EFI with a $1,500 sniper and two $500 pumps. Pollack valves are usually less than $100. Those tanks collect dirt right on top where the sending unit is and then retain moisture and rust like crazy seizing the ring to the...

    Dual tank solenoid valve

You dont need to remove the bed to drop the tanks. There are 4 bolts on each of the 2 saddle mount attaching it to the frame. Unbolt both of them, and unbolt the fill neck from the fill door and the ground wire and the tank drops straight down. There will be the three hoses on top and the...

Adding second fuel tank and efi fuel pumps

Good luck on the fill spout, but these are the pumps you want to use and the pollack valve that you need. These pumps will work with existing tanks and don’t need return lines. I added my wiring diagram for this that I made when I turned my dual tank truck into a Sniper EFI to run the pumps with...

    Dual tank solenoid valve

3/8 hose for the supply 5/16 for the return 1/4 for the vent You can run the vent through a 6 port Pollak valve if you want, but originally they were just T-ed together right next to the Pollak Valve and sent to the canister.
