Cab bushing replacement
They are for aligning the cab/raising the front of the cab a little if needed. My 74 C20 had them in.- ali_c20

Bed bolt upgrade?
You could spot weld the bolt heads but that makes them non serviceable. Not the best solution but it would work.- ali_c20

Transmission swap questions

Troubleshooting Strange Noise
Welcome from Austria. I would do the following: Adjust timing. Adjust idle. Check for exhaust leaks. An engine stethoscope is very good for finding engine noises.- ali_c20
