    ford in the late 80s did that oil pressure thing, up to about 93 or so there is a resistor on the instrument cluster that can be removed or something and then put a sender in the engine, and it will function as a gauge

    rtv is meant to create a gasket , but its not designed to do something like that. where you can get a proper o ring or gasket, normally you would want to use that. RTV has a place , but not there Metal washer that are thin sound like crush washers

    Why not just use an alternative location to mount the same thing If its a 1987 with the tbi, the switch part of that assembly is designed to provide an alternative ground to the fuel pump relay im pretty sure, which even chevy deleted in the 1990s probably realizing they had reliable enough...

    These are assuming your intake and emissions are in place. i dont know what direction the heat range change is (43 vs 44) and what if any your top end changes would make.

    something wasnt working then, unless you mean the trans/engine oil rather than engine coolant. the coolers can be restricted or there is corrosion, the lines could be restricted. there might be air, etc
