1985 c10 lower radiator hose cold

Either your water pump is not moving coolant, not likely since it does not overheat, or your radiator is blocked.

    Lubrication

Gear oil might make it stiffer to shift into 4WD in cold weather. In the 80s when manual gearboxes called for gear oil they were stiff in the cold weather. The fix was to run 50/50 ATF and gear oil.

I would prefer a factory bumper as my truck had one and am Leary about aftermarket because of quality.

Wanted: Factory step bumper for 1987 fleetside

I am looking for a factory GM step bumper for a 1987 pickup with a fleetside bed. Ideally I would love a NOS chrome one but I am ok with one that is painted or the chrome is in need of replating. It just needs to be straight, not rotted and no extra holes. I am in STAFFORD SPRINGS Connecticut...

    Check out this plugged radiator

I have seen that mud before. Mixture of stop leak and mismatch coolant. That one is crazy bad. Guys used to laugh at my old half dead IR air ratchet. "No power", I never broke a bolt or tore up a knuckle.

Has anyone bought the LMC dash?

I bought this pad for my truck. It is metal backed. I have it installed but have not put the cluster back in. I just finished cleaning up and am waiting on one part to arrive so it can be installed. It fit pretty good so far but I am not done. I am saving my original just in case. I did not...

    1982 c10 neutral safety switch

then you have an old column. Probably best to replace the connectors to match the column.

    1982 c10 neutral safety switch

That switch looks wrong. If you look up the switch for a 1982 it looks like the top picture of your original one. The one on your column is for a much older GM vehicle. Why not just replace it? They are less than $20

    Tire machine recommendations

The old Coats machines work great on stock wheels, especially steel ones. Before you inflate the tire loosen the big nut. In the 80s when I started my career the dealer I worked at had a Coats 10/10 and we used it on the Volvo alloy wheels and the Ford cars and trucks up to E/F350 with no...

Need help deciding on which Front Bumper

@fast 99 Thanks for the measurement. @Moodyalaskan My original one is not rusted. Chrome is peeling in one small spot and is just old chrome. I thought about getting it chromed but that is about 3 times the price of a replacement. I rather find one that is close in thickness brand new.

Need help deciding on which Front Bumper

I am restoring my 1987 GMC V3500. I want to replace the front bumper and am paralyzed by analysis and would like some input based on experience. I really want something as thick as original and a nice chrome. Here are the contenders: 1. LMC Premium bumper - Every post I can find says it is...

Bought: Instrument Cluster Red brake Lens

I am looking for a good Red brake Light lens for a 1987 cluster. It is the one in my picture. Ideally I want just this lens but I am ok with buying a cluster or a parts cluster. PM me here if you have something and what you need for it.

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

I am sure you can get the clear plastic faceplate off. The Chrome knobs pull off. Might take a bit of force but they do pop off. Then carefully release the plastic clips holding the clear faceplate on. The printing is on the backside so you can use some polish and polish the front side and if...

Is this an aftermarket rear slider?

According to Precision Rubber, the factory slider uses a different seal than standard flat glass rear window. Aftermarket sliders use a standard seal. You can get either from them.

    Alternator BAT Wire Gauge

I am restoring my 1987 V3500. I had new battery, charging and ground cables made by CE Auto Electric. Way nicer than any universal stuff you get at NAPA, O'Reilly's etc. Price was not much more and they fit perfect and look great. They use welding cable. It is very flexible. Click here to get...

A/C & HEAT slider is froze up

I am restoring my 1987 V3500. I had the HVAC controls out and all apart to clean and lube them. Not a very hard job. Could just be full of crud.

    Switching AC to R134

If we are restoring something and plan to keep it going for a long time then it is best to do it 100% by the book. My experience has been that there are some corners that can be cut and still get good results. Especially when you are doing it for a living. You have to balance things out so the...

    Switching AC to R134

I have done dozens of conversions back in the 90s. The proper way is to replace orifice tube, accumulator and drain all oil out of each component and measure what was removed. Then replace the hoses with new barrier hoses, all o-rings replace and put a compatible oil back in the amounts you...

1987 Chevy R20 454 power steering reservoir hose

I needed this same hose and could not really find anything that had the correct bends. I ended up using heater hose with two EZ Coil springs to prevent kinking. It looks pretty good and worked. I tried making my own molded hose like a guy did on YouTube. I could not get that to work so I went...

Big oil filter downsides? such as WIX 51794 or ACDelco PF932
