GMC Savana, Plus a Chevy Express Now Too

Not sure how I missed this, but I like the progress so far. The wheels really set it off. I know the 4.8 wasn’t your first choice, but they’re great motors. My family has a 2001 Silverado we bought new, only options are ac, automatic transmission, and the 4.8. Absolutely bare bones everything...

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

That makes sense. Ok new question lol, what could I realistically ask for three outboards? I have a 70 HP Johnson, a 75 HP Johnson, and a V6 evinrude. No idea on the HP rating. I was thinking $500 each? I would also trade all three for something.

So for curiosity sake, what usually goes wrong in the lower unit to cause it to need to be removed?

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

Well, I should say that I’ve wanted a boat for a long time, just not this kind. I really want a 16’ Jon boat with a small tiller motor. A “river boat” if you will. They tend to be low maintenance, easy to store, and less time consuming altogether. Plus they are geared more towards fishing, as am...

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

Well crap, I can’t stop thinking about this thing. I mean, it’s FREE. I just need to borrow a trailer to get it home. It also came with two more outboards. I could pull the motor off of this one, and offer all theee motors up for trade for a Jon boat.

    Wheel choices for 4x4

I really liked the set I had, I got 65k out of a set on a 2006 z71. They took me anywhere I needed to go, and would have lasted longer if I hadn’t gotten lazy on my rotation.

That was my thought, taken off so it could sit on the ground.

That’s probably my best bet. I think I’ll pass on this potential headache.

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

I don’t know who made it. And yes, this is new territory for me. Never really been a boat guy. But I do know that boat stands for Bring Out Another Thousand.

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

Oh man, I didn’t know about all that wood. It’s been sitting outside so I’m sure it’ll have soft spots. It’ll probably be more trouble than it’s worth at this point. I don’t know the first thing about fiberglass boats, personally I’d rather have a metal or aluminum Jon boat that I can get into...

Yes it is, yes it was, and yes I do lol. But when I drink, very little actually gets done, so there’s that.

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

What’s the opinion on this boat? Is it worth the time to get it going again? It’s free, title included. My dad already has it, just not sure if it’s worth the effort. Motor supposedly runs, but the foot needs to be reinstalled. Only real catch is there’s no trailer. Any wood that is there will...

How do I add a clock to the blank spot? 84 Suburban

I did a write up, but I don’t know which thread it’s in. Build thread maybe? Anyway, that little blank is just a piece of plastic. Once you remove the lens, it’ll lift off. Yours being an 84 might be a bit different, but my 78 had a plastic tube and a bulb socket there for a non existent idiot...

    Glove Box Wire

Wait, I was right?? Don’t tell my wife that, it’ll ruin my record.

    Glove Box Wire

I’m almost positive the part on the back that catches the dash gets cut off, along with some of the end, to make room for the blower.

    Long bed camper shell

I thought someone here might be looking for one. It’s for a long bed, I have no idea if it’s specifically fits a square. My dad ended up with us and he wants it gone. I can get measurements from him. It’s in SC, I can bring it to NC if needed. $50, or trade for some tools or whatever.

    Glove Box Wire

If you’re referring to the one you got from me, then there was actually a wire installed to keep the glove box from dropping all the way down. It wasn’t anything special though, just a small cable with a ring terminal crimped on each end, screwed to the dash and the door. Definitely sounds like...

    Headache rack ideas

Ended up having this one fall in my lap. My dad helps a local guy on his farm part time, and he gave my dad this one just to get it out of his way. All aluminum, so it pretty light.

Who has Experience with Sunex Low-lift Transmission Jacks?

I’ve always just used a cheap generic floor jack and some ratchet straps. I can’t see spending that kind of money on a specialty tool unless I’m using it several times a week. Just my opinion though.

Drilling Holes in a Plastic Gauge Cluster Crystal?

Yea, measure like 7 times, drill once. Don’t do what I did. I got lazy when I first put it in, and the clock ended up at an angle. So the hole I drilled was way off, then I had to keep reaming it out, resulting in the mess you see here. As for making the actual hole, all I used was my drill and...
