    Question For My K20 Brothers

That's odd. Normally for me they have shipped in the next day or two from when placing an order.

What should I include in my emergency tool set?

For me it depends on where you will be driving. I often drive out into the middle of nowhere by myself. No cell service- no houses, little to no people. I carry a basic craftsman tool set, wool blanket, shovel, flares (easy way to start a campfire), mountain bike (riding a bike out is easier...

    Relocating Center Pin

I think you'd be fine with the center pin in the stock location. And in the future if you change your mind ORDs axle relocation plates are only 1/4" thick and you can then move the axle forward 0.5"/1"/1.5" Are you going to keep using your sway bar? This will limit wheel travel and prevent you...

    Question For My K20 Brothers

The same thing happened to me when I first bought my truck many many years ago. Previous owner had driven like that so long it even wore a flat spot in the frame with it rubbing all the time. My first project was new shocks and the greaseable bushings with the slightly longer shackles. The...

What ate my front u joints? Dana 44

Do you know if your old axle U joints were 297s? The old original part was 5-297x part number. Spicer then made a newer upgraded version of this and it is the 5-760x On rock auto the 760x costs $17.73 instead of $11.73. What is the difference...

New Tires are Ugly. Bring the Classics Back!

All that crap on the sidewall is very fuctional if you leave the pavement. I'll take function over looks any day. My first flat tire was running over a stick and a sharp part of it came straight up and ripped the sidewall. That is very unlikely now with the tread that wraps up the sidewall a bit.

    Hello from Montana.

I want to move over to your side then. The idiots here will even spray it on 100% dry roads in the early spring when there is no chance of rain/snow/ice just to "use it up" so they don't get their budget cut for the next winter. I just had to fix a grapefruit sized rust hole in my floorboards...

I don't see anything wrong with this at all... OR: (not super swampers but close) :D

Rough Country 6inch lift dumb question

Hard to exactly envision what you are saying... but I think it is just because the springs are hanging and there is no weight on them. If you put a jack under the center of the leaf spring pack and nicely start lifting (putting some pressure on them) I bet the shackle will start looking...

    Super swampers on a dully

https://www.intercotire.com/blem_list_0 Interco has a blem list that they have cheaper tires on. Not sure the chances of them having the size you need- but worth checking out. They have 35X10.00-16 (8 in stock) for $175 each just as an example. I just spent too much on tires and wheels for my...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

I had a 2003 Silverado 2500. It was garaged. I used it to cover up the 5th wheel hitch when I wasn't towing. They have an aluminum "frame" that attaches to the bed rails... but instead of mounting on the top of the rails like the softopper it mounts to the inside edge. These aluminum rails...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

One thing I forgot to mention- with both this top or using a regular tonneau cover you have the open bed stake holes. I bought some plastic block off plates and used a bit of silicone to seal them. I didn't want any rain/snow/dust getting into the bed from those holes. I also used some weather...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

I put it on by myself. Think they say they weigh about 30lbs. It doesn't weigh much at all.

    Overhead tonneau cover?

Ah- I see now. Yeah, I would think they would probably be bent somewhat easily if you put something very heavy on them. They are just hollow square tube. I think made of aluminum. And they sit on the inside edge of the bed rail. So they don't protrude into the bed area like the tonneau cover...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

I guess it depends on how it gets hit. I've had the truck slide sideways into tree branches and it is flexible enough to just move out of the way. Then it went back to the normal shape. I've also had over a foot of wet heavy snow on top of it and it didn't collapse. They do say they aren't...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

That would be me. :D They are expensive new. Got mine used on Craigslist for around $200. It is made by Softopper. They make them for trucks along with full size Broncos/Blazers. They have a screen you can put in place of the rear window for ventilation for camping, or if you keep dogs back...

    Wheel and Tire thread

I've heard that repeatedly for many years. But I've never really heard WHY. Why have a different track front vs rear? I had a 1993 Audi where the rear track was wider than the front. Then I bought a 2000 Audi and it was the opposite. Front was wider than the rear. What is wrong with having the...

    Bought the truck now what?

Nice looking truck. You have to be careful with undercoating. Unless it is done properly the undercoating can peel away and allow water/salt/de-icer to then get trapped between the metal and the undercoating. You might want to check out Fluidfilm. It is a wax/oil mixture that you can blast...

    Synthetic Lubricants

I run Mobil 1 synthetic oil in the engine as I like how it will still pour when cold vs conventional oil. It gets to -20 degrees here in the winter so that is the biggest factor for me. I also run Mobil 1 synthetic in the transfer case. As far as gear oil in the axles I just use regular. I was...

How Will My Square Body Look With XX Lift and XX Tires?

5" lift, KMC Grenade Crawl beadlocks (3.5" BS), BFG KM3 37x13.50R17 tires. Front fender trimmed.

Would different shocks make a difference?

I did run some KYB monomax shocks for about 2 years and thought that they were very similiar in ride characteristics to the Bilsteins I had on my other truck. The KYB shocks can be found for about $50 I've yet to run some Fox shocks or Kings though.

8 inch lift overall height question

Kinda funny- I just put some 37s on today and was wondering if it would still fit on the 7' side of the garage. I have 1" trim along the top of the garage door so the height is only 83". My truck still fits by about an inch maybe inch and a half. I have a 5" lift though. In the winter when the...

Beadlock and tires and back spacing.. oh my.

Got them on the truck. Front centercaps will need to be slightly modified to fit. Drove on the highway with them- best tire balance I've had in many many years. The extra width will be nice on some of the sidehills.
