    TH350C Lockup wiring

If you do not know the maintenance history on the trans, then replacing the fluid and filter is very risky. If you do not know why its risky, then just don't do it - don't take the chance. Others will say that you should replace the fluid and filter without any worry at all, and that if the...

    Vibration

Can you provide more details about the symptoms? For example, does the engine need to be running for you to notice the vibration? Vibration only when braking? If your coasting at 30 mph and shut the engine off, does the vibration go away? If you drive at 50 MPH and then shift to neutral...

    Compressor not turning on.

Basically: Power goes from your battery to the A/C dash switch to the low pressure switch to the high pressure switch to the electromagnet on the pump. If the high pressure switch or low pressure switch are detecting a pressure that's too high or too low, then the switch stops power at that...

    Bad alternator bearings

On top of that: "Studies indicate that a substantial portion of goods, potentially up to 10% of all branded products, could be counterfeit." That's why I like shopping on Amazon for parts. If they have a feedback rating of 143,298 reviews with an 92% "5 star" positive feedback rating - then I...

    Bad alternator bearings

If you pull the belt, you should be able to feel if the alternator bearings are bad. They would feel rough when you spin the pulley by hand. As for defective parts, the only place I have ever gotten DOA parts from was an auto parts store. Now I buy all my parts on Amazon, and so far I have never...

    Defrost duct

You could always try expanding foam. It seals up large gaps really well, and you can easily trim it away as needed. You really need to follow the directions on the can though, or things can go bad.

    Bad alternator bearings

I wonder if the alternator pulley rubbing against that metal hose bracket is what caused the alternator bearings to go bad...

    Inconsistent tapping from 400 sbc

I don't think its this, but we gotta brainstorm all avenues - right? If the engine shakes when the tapping/ticking sound is there, could this be a loud spark plug wire short? Sometimes if the spark is good and hot, and jumping in the right spot - it can make some pretty snappy sounds. Plus it...

Junction block wire started smoking when try to start?

Your main power wire goes strait from the battery to the starter, so you know that's not sorted. There is a wire that basically goes from the key to the starter (a few twists and turns aside), and when you try to start the engine, that wire becomes electrified. That's what signals the starter...

WANTED: 1977 K5 Blazer 4x4 rear drive shaft.

Unreal! Blew up my rear driveshaft front U-joint yesterday and had to drive home on the front end only - with the rear driveshaft removed. Today I had a brand new rear driveshaft delivered to my shop for $100! I just installed it and drove home on it. The seller had it custom made for...

Just buy a Chilton service manual and follow it step by step. Read the entire "transmission removal/replacement" chapter and you will know exactly what to do and how to do it. Start reading at: "disconnect the negative battery cable" then stop reading when it says "Connect the negative battery...

only Front Brakes Skid in a dirt parking lot

Drive up a mountain. Brake on the way down the mountain. Touch the rear brakes with your hand. Apply burn cream. If they are hot, they are working - at least to some "degree". 1st degree, 2nd degree, 3rd degree burn will tell you how well they are working.

That's a thermally controlled electric fan switch. It activates your radiator cooling fan when the rad reaches a certain temp. That's what it looks like to me anyway.

Why is my bell housing knocking!

You might be able to put ratchet straps between the frame rails and let the trans rest on those. Then you can slide the trans back on the straps.
