I wish the issue was just with the “cheap” parts/stores, but it’s not. Several years ago we sat in a Napa parking lot changing out Napa reman alternators. Short story each had something wrong. #1 worked but was damaged. #2-4 didn’t even work. Ended up back with #1 to get us home and returned it... -

Fair enough. True since he has a TBI ECM. Had that happen on a much newer vehicle once @JamesSam your alternator could be both issues. Bad diode(s) or rectifier can/will create a current draw. Common in reman alternators or old ones. And affecting the electronics ECM etc can be random. Easy... -

Man you can’t catch a break w that truck. Parasitic load on the battery (what Rick told you to check) is not related to running rough. Assuming your alternator is charging. Even then it should run fine until the battery runs down. It would be repeatable. -

I’d say it’s the case even if the 2wd has better tires. Can we all just think about it logically? If rwd or even fwd vehicles got as good of traction in snow, 2wd trucks wouldn’t be almost gone the way of the dinosaur and there wouldn’t be every flavor of little suv and mommy missle all in AWD...- Grit dog

Components Speakers (Tweeters in the dash?)
I’d put some power to the 3.5s. They don’t have **** for bass, but tune out the low frequency and use them as a high range tweet/mid. Better than just a tweeter, you need some range from the front. When talking 3.5” dash speakers, “fit” is a liberal description. Most/all 3.5s fit the hole...- Grit dog

When you said there was no measurable difference between 2wd and 4wd are you referring to 4 wheel abs and stopping only, not accelerating? What year rims for a 85 C30 dually
Aside from ply ratings not being an actual metric for LT tires for decades, I’ve never seen a 235/85/16 LT tire that has a 14-16ply (load range G or H). Only trailer tires. I presume your K3500 is a srw truck by your description (C20 wheels whatever those are). Any and all GM 8 lug wheels came...- Grit dog

Steering column interchange??
That opens up a lot more options for replacement columns for 80s Squares? Were they plug n play? Thinking back, the gmt400s didn’t have any more “technology” built into the steering column assembly. But I never had one apart because I’ve haven’t owned any since they were “newer” trucks.- Grit dog

Another Leaf Spring Question
It doesn’t really matter. How much rear spring do you need is what matters. You’re 8600 gvw came with 8 or 9 leaf, idk, just drove mine for a couple hrs today. It’s stout as hell. Only flex is in the tires.- Grit dog

Steering column interchange??
93? Seems small chance it would bolt up unless this is a thing. Have an 86 tilt wheel and 77 no tilt. Steering wheel and seat are in identical location.- Grit dog
