Have seen Lucas at local stores. Another place to check is Walmart. OP when you drain the 5-30 out take a stick or screwdriver and swirl the oil around in the drain pan. If it looks at all like metal flake paint quit right there, bearings are in the pan.- fast 99

Change to a thicker oil 10-30 or 10-40. If it continues need to confirm with mechanical gauge. If indeed pressure is that low how old is the engine? Could have a restriction, possible pickup plugged with crud or RTV? Could also be holding the oil on top if drain back holes are restricted. Other...- fast 99

LMC Dash Pad Supplier
I purchased a pad, from Jegs. Was double boxed with a Dashes direct part inside. Shipping was either free or substantially less than most other places. Also took that route with a bed floor. -
350 tbi running too cold
Also keep in mind where the sender is. If in head it will read about 10 degrees hotter than near the stat in the intake. Really cheap to diagnose and a very handy tool to have. Go to HF and buy a temperature gun. Run vehicle a while, check stat housing. When I bought mine it was $250 now HF...- fast 99

It's not difficult but some procedures need to be followed. Any part not replaced needs to be flushed of oil and contaminates. In addition to previous post replace all lines and seals. Buy a conversion kit. Replace hoses if original, they are too old, 134A is a smaller molecule will leak easier...- fast 99

First real drive! Not tragic but not good. I think I need carb advice.
A couple pictures would help. Obviously with headers the heat riser valve is gone. That effects intake preheat and choke operation. Hard to help with diagnosis not knowing what your working with.- fast 99

Weird leak..
Have seen coolant leaks that only occur when vehicle is cold, especially plastic tank radiators. Holding pressure for long periods shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't excessively high.- fast 99

Before thinking about buying parts some diagnosis first. Check over the tune up, good plugs not fouled, timing, both advances, inspect wires, cap, ect. Check fuel pressure and volume. If possible check vacuum. If it does have a q jet with appreciable age likely float is heavy and needs o haul...- fast 99

Engine Block Heater for SBC 350
Good battery means adequate amperage to crank fast enough in a cold environment. Shouldn't be using heavy grade oil 10-30 or 10-40 ok, no 20-50. To remove a freeze plug, use a blunt punch of some kind or even a long 1/2" extension. Hit it towards the outside edge. It may twist in the hole...- fast 99

Most reliable and easiest to install are soft plug heaters. Directions will instruct which one to install it in. Remember GM installed them from the factory. I live in Spokane, we get comparable weather. Actually any maintained vehicle with a good battery should start decent in 0 degree...- fast 99

Ac liquid condenser line
Outlet is for rear ac. Might be able to weld it shut. -

Just looked at my K20 I purchased same line you need last year. They had the right one then but not now. Old one I replaced was leaking at the evaporator and still does with the new line. So the line is probably ok. Might have the old one somewhere if you run out of options. -

Carb sputter uphill
Fuel pressure, volume and filters. New fuel pump quality is horrible. If everything checks out [unknown what carb] possible metering rod stuck. Bouncing fuel gauge is likely caused by the gauge itself. Shouldn't be an issue provided there is enough fuel in the tank.- fast 99

Carb gasket comparison question!
Part consolidation is a thing. Having extra holes to nowhere won't affect anything. It's only a problem when openings are sealed by the gasket. Have seen this on nearly every carb I overhauled. It's fine, use it as long as no holes are covered.- fast 99

California emissions removal help
FYI even if you live in a state where vehicles aren't tested removing any emissions device is illegal. There are many threads here asking how to fix fuel smells and drivability problems after emission parts were yanked off. On a 78 most of them have no effect on performance.- fast 99
