Hi all - sorry what is the difference with the later model tailgates to the earlier ones ? Just the external body mould line at the top lip ? LMC sells up to '81. Sound dampening

yeah - I would "start" with break in procedure. Hopefully the shop will have given you a list of "do's and dont's" when you first picked it up. If the bores have glazed over, you will never get it back( ie it is the mechanical seal developed between rings and bore, not oil viscosity that will...- Fat 454

Hidden Rattle Found, Update Not Found!
Just had to replace the rear muffler on my sons truck. Made an annoying rattle when you started up which then went away at higher rpm. Had blown out an internal baffle, but you couldn't see anything from outside. May be worth a look ??- Fat 454

I would suggest the 4l80E as it is heavier duty - may give you more options going forward on a truck. The 4l60 over here is used on the sedan, and seems a bit undercooked -. oooh, stay with original sheet metal in my book. Especially if you are in the desert and can find rust free stuff. Aftermarket will never fit as well as the OEM panels. If you are really concerned about rust, hot wash the insides of the doors, then have them sand blasted ( inside in the joints...- Fat 454
