    1976 C20 AC Pressure Switch

The thing in your picture is a thermostatic cycling switch(freeze switch). It cycles the compressor off before the evaporator freezes up. It isn't actually ported onto the high pressure side at all I think. Heres a pic from the same site...

    Defroster without AC

I was stationed at Ft. Hood for quite a few years. I would definitely try and get the old system working again. It isn't very expensive even to just buy new replacement major components. The only thing you would need that I haven't seen available new would be some of the steel lines and the...

    15th annual - Dino's Git-Down - Glendale, AZ 2025

I'd love to go next year. This year it was during my elk hunt, so it wouldn't have worked out. We did get a nice little 4x5 on opening day though, so that was nice.

The PSI 8.8 is a tall deck motor as well I believe.

    Defroster without AC

yes, but it won't be nearly as effective as it would be with the AC functional. Elk hunting in November here in Oregon was a little rough without the AC functional the one year I tried it. It takes a long time to clear the windshield of moisture without the AC to dry the air out. If you live in...

    USA1 Industries

maybe? The problem is that they are digging into the plastic studs, so if you are just a bit off and they have too much resistance they will just snap the studs off.

    USA1 Industries

It was still missing the mounting hardware for the door panels. It should have come with the square plastic inserts for the door pockets and it did not. Also, the palnuts that came with the door trim to hold it all together did not work. They didn't have any angle to them, so they wouldn't bite...

    USA1 Industries

Bringing a thread back from the dead to add on this frustrating experience. I decided that because I wasn't in a hurry, I would order some interior parts from USA1 since they are the only ones that offer parts in the color matched, two year only, "Mystic" interior color. The lead times appear...

    Ignition timing

Factory spec is probably 4 BTC with the vacuum line pulled and plugged on the manifold or carb side depending on where it is connected to. Most people would suggest kicking that up a bit. I generally set mine by total timing and let the initial fall where it may. 34-36 Total is generally where...

    TX87R10 rendered this thread useless

I'm not sure I'd take that as a compliment. It's like saying that someone has the best smelling farts out of any of the farts they've ever smelled. Paint is 99% about the prep work. Maaco doesn't really do any prepwork... so if someone does all the sanding, bodywork, and prep before taking it...

    TX87R10 rendered this thread useless

My immediate thought is that you went wrong by offering it for sale with no reserve. You had valid local offers at $15k, so you should have set a $15k reserve at a minimum. If it doesn't sell at that or higher, then you can always go back to the local offer. Personally, that is a crazy price...

    Any experience with 2016 Silverado?

Tuning the trans will help most things. The converter is the major issue, but can be made to last much longer if you tune out the continuous slippage and let it lock sooner. A billet front converter combined with the tuning completely solves the transmission weaknesses. Engine issues are pretty...

What have you done to your square lately??

You have to modify the rails for the twin-stick mod anyways... I could always modify the rails as necessary to get the sensor to work

What have you done to your square lately??

If you get that to work, I'd pay for you to have a second adapter made. I've got the same problem on mine. I was thinking I would just go twin stick and install a microswitch on the shifter itself, but being able to use a switch in the stock location would definitely be nicer. I'll probably...

    Switching AC to R134

AC system flush fluid and the rental flushing tool from your local autozone would be my vote. For the big stuff like the condensor and evaporator, I would fill with mineral spirits and swish it all around first, then use the AC flush. You are having to disassemble the whole thing to put new...

    Switching AC to R134

pull all the individual sections apart and replace all o-rings with the green ones. You can get a whole mixed size box of them from any parts store and there aren't that many connections. I did that, replaced the accumulator/drier, blue orifice tube, rebuilt the A6 compressor, and flushed the...

Mystery Part... Found in engine compartment

It is for the top of the power steering pump when you have the AC compressor on the passenger side. I have that exact bracket on my 350 with the A6 AC compressor on that side.

    8.1 vortec into 1979 k30

Yep, that's what I did initially. Used standard BBC bearings and plastigauged just to make sure nothing was too far off. The #1 bearing was VERY tight and the plastigauge showed that. The #5 was close on clearance, but the thrust was WAY too tight and would have required a bunch of sanding to...

    8.1 vortec into 1979 k30

If they actually measured the clearance like you are supposed to when assembling an engine, they would find out real fast there is an issue. If they machined the crank to standard BBC specs or honed the block to standard specs it will take standard bearings as well.

    8.1 vortec into 1979 k30

Bearing kits are sold as "all BBC", but that is not actually the case. The GEN VI and GEN VII BBC have different #1 and #5 bearings, and the only correc t ones I could find are chevrolet performance ones. I rebuilt my 1997 Gen VI a few years ago and found that out when I had a general BBC set of...

    Cruisin the Coast 2025

There are a few here on the west coast. As far as similar big shows, graffiti week in Roseburg around the July 4th weekend is gigantic. There are quite a few around the bay area and SoCal as well throughout the year. There is a big C10's at the capital show every year in Olympia, WA too.

    Transmission oil filter and gasket

The correct filter and gasket is AC Delco TF231. It comes in a kit with gasket, seal, and filter. It is the higher flowing filter element. I've had issues installing the filters that say they are correct, but have the filter media visible at the intake hole. Those are too restrictive and will...

    14 Bolt Differential Recommendations

You should be aware that the donor 14BFF is NOT a gov-lock currently. The Carrier assemblies vary greatly between the gov-lock and non-gov lock for the 14BFF and most aftermarket systems will only fit on the open diff carrier. I have a Yukon grizzly locker on mine and I like it. If you do more...
