    Exhaust Manifold Help

Remflex gaskets will not leak and will last forever. Stay away from felpro and other cheap, thin exhaust gaskets. Remflex or nothing(like bucket suggested) would be my recommendation.

    DD Gauge help

They used a port on the water pump??? WTF would they do that? That's going to be the coldest spot in the system, since it pulls cold water from the cold side of the radiator and jams it into the front of the engine block. I would have expected them to have replaced the original gauge sender on...

What have you done to your square lately??

I have those exact mufflers on my truck. They sound fantastic with a decent engine and headers, you won't be disappointed. I get zero drone in the cab with them as well, in case you were worried. I had them for years with just an axle dump, then I added an H-pipe right behind the T-case, cats...

    LS3 6.2 Engine Fuel Lines

My truck is GMT-400 hardlines from the tank(with about 12" of factory flex line to the sending unit) all the way to the filter. At the filter it switches to Evil Energy -6AN braided line up to the fuel rails, from the fuel rail return to an adjustable regulator, then from the regulator output to...

    DD Gauge help

The SES light wire should be a brown/white wire coming from the ECM connector. It will have 0v with key off and then 14v with key on. It should be flashing between 0v to 14v to light the bulb up in order to indicate a fault code with the ALDL pins jumpered...

    Dakota digital users, fuel gauge

I would disconnect the feed line from somewhere and pump straight out of there. Alternatively, you can drop a hose down the fill tube and just siphon or pump it out. Harbor freight has some cheap options(not sure if you have harbor freight in Canada), or even Vevor...

    Dakota digital users, fuel gauge

You'll need to know what size tank in order to get the right sending unit, as they are different depth tanks. You can measure the tank to know what size it is. They are visually pretty different as well. 25 and 31 gallon are square looking and only differ in depth of the tank(which is why the...

    Dakota digital users, fuel gauge

On an 82, they should be metal lines only to just off the frame rail. Then you should have rubber from the frame rail to the sending unit. There is a metal post on top of the sending unit that the fuel level sensor clips onto. There is another metal post on the side of the sending unit that has...

    Dakota digital users, fuel gauge

I would check all the pink or tan wires at the connector. I would not mess with the tank unless I could not find the functional wire

    Dakota digital users, fuel gauge

The wire is a simple circuit through a variable resistor on the fuel level float to ground. There are multiple pins on the original cluster connector that could go to the fuel sender. You should use a multimeter to check resistance between each pink or tan wire on the original connector to...

Cab bolts: A comedy of errors

It won't set if it is very loose(allowing air to contact) and it will set but not grip if the bolt or hole is very dirty or rusty. You need to make sure both the bolt and hole threads have been chased and cleaned thoroughly before you apply the loctite.

Cab bolts: A comedy of errors

Weld on a washer to the body next to it. Then run wire through a hole drilled in the head and to the washer. Honestly never seen one properly torqued and loctited that vibrated out on its own though. Just put a bunch of blue loctite on it and give it a few ugga duggas.

    Poll: Ported v Manifold Vacuum...

The key thing with this is not the carb. It matters what distributor you have and how you have it set up. If your distributor is set up for a ported vacuum application and you run manifold vacuum... you will have issues. Same if it is opposite.

84 OEM Cruise Control Module/LS Swap

Is this a drive by wire or drive by cable setup? I wouldn't use any of the stock cruise control stuff with an LS swap. If it is drive by cable, use a factory cruise module from a 2000-2002 Tahoe/Suburban/Sierra. You would just need to feed the cruise button signals, brake signal, and vss to the...

What have you done to your square lately??

I haven't had a chance to do anything on mine except pull the dash and the driver door panel off. I think I have finally collected all the parts that I need for the changes I want to do, but I've been busy ripping out and re-arranging my whole garage space. Hoping to get it the rest of the way...

    Four link c30 vs k30

They are the exact same frame.... the only difference is in the front suspension mounts. I agree with bucket that there are far more C30's out there though, so if you are going to be fabricating a whole new setup with custom axles/suspension/frame work, I would start with the C30 frame.

    LS 6.0 Runability Issue

One of the known issues with a 24x reluctor on the Gen III motors is for the press-on reluctor wheel to separate or come loose. As you can see from the pic, the 24x reluctor is two thin plates pressed onto the crank. It looks like maybe the inner one has come loose and wobbled enough to contact...

What have you done to your square lately??

I got an L9H Aluminum Gen IV 6.2L out of a 2009 Tahoe with the engine/trans/wiring harness and computer for $1400 here in Oregon a couple years ago. The torque converter had gone out at ~120k miles and the guy was parting it out instead of rebuilding the 6L80. $1750 is way to high for a high...

OUTTA GAS!!! Vapor lock fix for today's fuel

The solution would have been to put a three connection pump and a three outlet sending unit in the tanks when you changed all those parts. Having the excess fuel return to the tank permanently solves the problem unless you are dumping a ton of heat in to the line from the exhaust.

Vapor Barrier behind new door panels?

Vapor Barrier behind new door panels?

That's what I'm doing. I ordered a large sheet of greenhouse plastic and a roll of butyl tape and will cut out my own. I got the large roll of greenhouse plastic to use most of it for wrapping our goat and chicken pens in the winter for warmth, since it was ~$20 for a 40'x20' sheet and I only...

    Quadrajet

You could send it off for rebuild? Lars is generally considered the king of quadrajet rebuilding. I think he is still around and kicking... last confirmed rebuild I saw was from late 2023. [email protected] I've also bought parts from these guys and they seem OK. Looks like they will custom...
