    Electric fuel pump

It's unlikely that you are actually getting vapor lock with the symptoms you are reporting and the equipment you have. If it was vapor lock you would get an immediate start and then it would die after a few seconds once the fuel bowl ran out. There are a few things that could be causing your...

    Sending unit 4 tubes

Yep, that's the charcoal canister that keeps the truck from stinking of fuel when it is parked. Looks like it needs to have most of those lines checked for dry rot and cracking. Looks like you might have one or more missing or cut lines as well. You should be able to see where all the lines go...

    Sending unit 4 tubes

This The little module on the end of the vent tube is meant to prevent liquid fuel from going into the vent tube.

Did GM use Spicer parts from the factory?

Yes. Also, my factory locking hubs are spicer branded on my '80 K25 with a 10 bolt front axle.

    2.5" Skyjacker final thoughts

The other thing to consider is that it is likely that the sway bar is binding up and greatly stiffening up your ride. The sway bar disconnect kit from ORD is a huge improvement to ride quality and I usually just leave it disconnected while daily driving. When I am towing or have a heavy load in...

Condenser Replaced - a few pics

Not surprising... since the post was from 10 years ago and they no longer make the part. This is the only similar one I seem to be able to find... good ratings, but straight from chi-na https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003R377NU/

Anyone going to the Portland Swap Meet this year (2025)?

I went a year or two ago and it was great. Lots and lots of cool cars and booths with lots of junk and some sprinkled in hidden gold. @Catbox is right there in the area and seems to have made it there many more times than I have... I've seen some pics form him with quite the collection of...

    8.1 vortec into 1979 k30

Yes, you can switch to the chevrolet performance front cover with a 24x crank/1x cam sensor in the cover, but its expensive and doesn't really get you anything. You can reach up in there and get to the sensor just fine on the side of the block, you just have to remove the starter I think. There...

1986 K10 Cutting off When Put in Gear

My first thought is that the torque converter has the lockup clutch frozen up or being commanded engaged... but since the OP only joined and created this thread, then hasn't been seen since, I bet he either figured it out himself or gave up on it.

What is this 2 prong Plug above the oil filter?

It wouldn't be original in a '76 model year though. You would still have the manifold mounted thermostat spring in that year, then it switched to a hot air choke into the early 80's, then an electric choke somewhere in the mid-80's I think.

What have you done to your square lately??

I have a converter in my 6L80 from PTC in Auburn, WA. It's been holding up well and made a big difference over the stock one and the first rebuilt one I had in it from a company in Portland. The local speed/transmission shop here used them exclusively and said he rarely had any issues with them.

Towing with my 86.... hints, tips, essentials?

I tow my family travel trailer a few times a year with my square. For family trips I use my newer suburban with a 6.2/6l80 and a tru-cool 40k. When I’m hunting or camping solo I will take the square. Weight is almost identical to your except with a load leveling hitch and electric brakes on both...

    Nice squarebody on BaT

Says they had it listed in November 2024 and didn't sell it. Let it bid up to $25k and that wasn't enough, but now listed with no reserve? Odd choice... we'll see what it sells for. Beautiful truck in amazing condition

Post 454 rebuild and oil consumption

Hmmm... interesting that there is no carbon buildup on the plug itself. There is a lot of oil on those threads though. How many miles do you have on the build now? As others have said, I'd be running it hard at this point to try and seat the rings. Medium to heavy throttle up to ~5k rpm and then...

Post 454 rebuild and oil consumption

I can't imagine a situation where an engine loses that much oil and doesn't smoke like a SOB or leave a LARGE puddle of oil everywhere it goes. My truck leaks a bunch, leaves lots of drops of oil everywhere I park... whole underside near the engine has oil on it.... maybe 1 quart every few...

What have you done to your square lately??

Never mind on my previous post. I looked it up and it is a timed unit, not a solid state proportional. Funny enough, it is a rebranded Tekonsha unit according to the Reese website. https://www.reesetowpower.com/product/8507120_trailer-brake-control-timed

What have you done to your square lately??

I hope you read the instructions, because most modern solid state proportional units still call for them to be mounted level in at least one axis. The software design is somewhat lacking and it makes it MUCH easier to design the solid state algorithms if they are constrained. I highly recommend...

241c or stay with the np203

No, all of the issues and changes were pre-97 where these were installed on 350's, 305's, and v6's. He will want to stay away any early 90's 4L60 as they were still working things out in those years. He'll know it's the right one because it will have the LS bellhousing on it with the additional...

241c or stay with the np203

The problem is going to be finding a 241c with a passenger side drop. The most likely candidate for you, and the easiest to find, will be a NP208 from an automatic trans equipped 85-90 K10. They are all round pattern and will bolt right up to a 4L60. The 0411 from the 99 will run a 4L60 no...

    Spark plugs

the second number is the heat range. Higher number is hotter plug. A CR43TS, CR44TS, and CR45TS will all fit and work in most GM V-8 engines from the late 60's through the 90's. 43 will be a colder plug, this means it will dissipate heat away from the tip of the plug faster than a 44 or 45. If...

    489ci tow build...

Oh, and checking on a compression calculator... my L29 after the rebuild should be ~9.15:1 Static compression ratio and ~8.4:1 dynamic with this cam. It is right on the borderline of what is considered safe towing compression ratios for an iron headed big block, but I also have the benefit of...

    489ci tow build...

Factory L29 and 8.1L are in the 9.0:1 range with the factory fast burn iron heads. You can run ~10:1 very safely on aluminum heads and 87 octane. Really, the dynamic compression is going to be the determining factor for pump gas drivability and that is mostly going to depend on the cam. A mild...

    489ci tow build...

I would stay away from keith black pistons. By the time you acquire and rebuild any of those heads, you could have just bought better aftermarket ones. If you are going to put factory iron heads on anything, your best bet is to go to a junkyard or find an L29 locally and just get the block/heads...

    k35 from Fresno, greetings all

After some research I see that they didn't allow the 205 to pair to a TH400 until '79. Super weird. So if you had a TH350 or SM465 from 71-79 in a 1-ton, you could have the 205, but not if you had the TH400. Seems odd to only allow the strongest transfer case to be behind the weaker trans, but...
