    Thinking about streamlining my tools.

I've been replacing corded stuff most of it is being phased out or has already been discontinued. Never liked most of the early battery powered stuff I used a lot of it because work would buy whatever was on sale at the time. I'm a drill/driver and ratchet away from having all the same battery...

    Bus Bar Ground

Mine was all messed up from the PO playing amateur electrician along with a lot of the dash harness behind the gauge cluster. I replaced it with one of these as well as the dash harness. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aww-500544

    Oil pressure sensor?

Because it's in the block drain. Also, that's a knock sensor not a temp or pressure sender. Oil pressure is directly above the oil filter on the side of the block. Or at the rear of the block behind the intake in the China wall next to the distributor. The top one pictured is for the light the...

    Front suspension Jerk

Sounds like a lower ball joint or control arm bushings. The inside wheel in a turn leans into the turn and if either is bad could cause this weird feeling in the stearing.

Internally v. Externally Balanced 383 ID

Forged at the pen, cast is on the right. As far as balance most likely as it was built 20 some years ago it's probably going to need a 400 balancer and flexplate (externally balanced) unless you can spin it around and find a bunch of Mallory in it somewere.

What have you done to your square lately??

I'm glad I only pay tax on the price listed on the bill of sale or the title when it was notarized. Ignore the fact we fill that out ourselves when doing owner to owner sales it's always the price we paid for it I swear. :emotions33:

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

3/4 race cam is the one I still hear from time to time. For those wondering where it comes from. compiled by HARVEY J. CRANE, JR. October 1, 1999 Ed Winfield made his first performance camshafts in 1914. These were motorcycle cams with individual lobes pinned to a shaft. His first automotive...

Chevy 14 bolt - gov bomb locker???

Open diff everything is just inside where you can't see it. Might be able to look into one of the slots with a light and see the tips of some of the teeth of the spider gears. Yukon and a few others make a ratcheting type of locker that replaces the spider assembly...

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the linkage mostly sorted need to make a longer section for the Enderel butterflies but angles are good no binding and opens about 9/10ths of the way with full throttle.

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

I hope you rejeted that carb by a considerable amount otherwise it might detonate itself to death.

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

Not available here and even if it was, I don't think I'd spend 1-1.2k to swap to a set of E85 compatible carbs and watch my milage go from 5.5 down to 3.5

What have you done to your square lately??

Long set of needle nose pliers and grab it in the notches and squeeze and pull. A set like this helps for that kind of stuff. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVZ39H3X/

Thinking about a new smaller steering wheel, comfort grip or forever sharp?

I currently have a Grant GT due to the seats being higher than the bench its a 13.5" I want to swap to something nicer and billet eventually. I'm 5"9" 200lbs and with the TMI seats the stock size wheel was too close for my comfort.

What have you done to your square lately??

Ya the spring is one of the things I don't like. Without it, it won't close reliably. Also had to move the return springs to the rear carb but they don't operate as smoothly due to the added spacing. Going to pull the cable and bracket and run a rod down to the rear carb. Should look much...

Got the cable sorted but not liking how it operates so I have a rod with heim ends on the way.

What is this thing with a bulb

Probably a home DIY due to no light in the early switch or a bad/defective unit, I don't remember whether they had a built-in light early on or not.

What have you done to your square lately??

I've seen them used on 4x4s but not on a 2x the front crossmember would probably be an issue.

    Let’s talk PCV systems.

Unless its heavily built and does not pull much vacuum due to the cam having a ton of overlap stick with one PCV and one breather because you could cause the opposite problem of no PCV blowing gaskets out and causing oil leaks but instead sucking the gaskets into the engine like the ones on the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Need to pick up some hardware after work tomorrow and sort out the linkage, remove the scoop and cut the hole in the hood bigger.

    carb connections...vacuum booster connection

There will ether be at fitting in the manifold behind the carb or in the rear of the carb baseplate.

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Just run the standard Melling and a pickup that either bolts to the pump or tack weld it in position. I've seen HV pumps starve themselves due to the pump moving more oil up top faster than it could drain back especially with a stock style/volume pan.

NO BRAKE PRESSURE AFTER ALMOST FULL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT!!

Says hydro boost was it bled correctly they take a whole procedure that needs ran thru multiple times sometimes. My swap to hydro took running thru the bleed process like half a dozen times with an hour in between each cycle for the air bubbles to dissipate.

What have you done to your square lately??

The TH350, TH400, TH200, 200-4R all use the same dipstick. The one I have for the 400 I'm currently building. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fti-f4017
