Run a 180 stat your carbureted so don't need the extra heat for Pollution control/ECU and you've upped the compression which will run hotter in the cylinders as you now have higher cylinder pressure. I run this in most of my milder builds and the 160 version of this in my 388...- xm20k

What lug wrench size do i need? (Pic)
This is the one I have its 6 evenly spaced ribs and about 5/8 inner diameter. Thin wall and about 3.5" long with 2 different size hexes on the end for a socket appears to be 3/4 and 7/8. If you think it'll work shoot me a message with your addy and I'll mail it off. -

I have some thing similar when I get home I'll look I think I still have the socket and if so you can have it as I don't use that type anymore. -
3 point seatbelt mounting confusion
The US trucks the retractor mounts on the floor just inside the door opening at the rear of the seat and the loop mounts on the pillar there is a nut welded on the inside of the layers of sheet metal, if it has the plastic trim it is probably behind it and just no hole in the plastic. Mine are... -
Rear frame support/crossmember on 2wd
Mine had the spare but no longer I pulled that cross member my aftermarket wheels and tires wouldn't fit it anyways. It isn't needed unless you want to keep the stock spare tire mount and your spare will fit in it.- xm20k

What years does this bezel fit?
No wiper switch cut out and the radio cut out suggests late 80s not sure what year others may have a better idea. -
Oil Drip Locations (w/ pics)
Valve covers, distributor, oil sender, and China wall all like to appear as rear main. Pull the converter cover and look up in-between the flex plate and block to verify rear main.- xm20k

Doing away with fuel tank selector valve??
Yes, I would highly recommend either a manual valve at some point you will suck air and lose fuel pick up teeing them together or just run one tank it's less capacity, but it won't starve itself and leave you stuck somewhere.- xm20k

Sealing intake manifold?
Are you sure the bolts are not too long? I've seen that as well they bottom out feel and look like they are correct but just long enough that most of the manifold does not seal. There are a couple lengths for a small block, I've had it happen.- xm20k

Gun Rack Spacing

Detroit Speed Engineering versus UMI front coils.
Mine had 2" springs and spindles and a rear flip it sat to low with the 2" springs. I couldn't get a jack under it with a flat. This is with stock springs and drop spindles. This is mine with a 26" tire up front and a 28" in the rear with just Wilwood spindles and a rear flip as far as...- xm20k

Sealing intake manifold?
The bolts on the outer ends by the water passages on some aftermarket heads are not blind and can leak they need sealer as well. Ultra grey is good anywhere it comes in contact with oil and fuel. I run a thin film on the water passage ends of the gaskets and carry that into a 1/4"n thick bead...- xm20k

1984 350 Starter Upgrade to new style Part number request
Only "GM Style starters" I'll use depending on tooth count needed. Most of the "Delco" listed starters from most parts stores are remans by who knows who most likely done over seas. Original color of my instrument panel?
That explains a lot my original was cracked, and you could tell it was just black plastic with silver added on around the gages etc. The oldest "square" I've had was a 77 but it had an aftermarket setup in it when I bought it similar to what I have now but an aluminum panel with holes cut in it... -
Can you pls identify this distributor wiring harness?
Plug the Distributor wire direct to the cap and toss all that nonsense out whatever it is it's not needed. Based on the fact you have an aftermarket carb with HEI its garbage is what it is.- xm20k

81 C10 SWB: Tie rods and adjuster sleeves
Running the part numbers for your tie rod ends they come back as basically the same as the Moogs I run, casting marks included just different colored boots. So, they are either a clone, or they are just bulk purchased and re boxed thru Mevotech. I don't get why they would bottom out into each...- xm20k

Should be black plastic with a screened-on silver high light some have wood gran decals as well but those were black plastic as well. Unless maybe it's an old reproduction that was made to look like chrome that someone painted over. -
Transmission swap questions
My bet will be the TH350 will be a 6-inch tail from a car and not the 9" from a truck. If it were me, I'd go 400 but I could care less about overdrive and changing the drive shaft yoke would be the excuse to change the U joints. Also more likely to be the 4" tail which would work with the yoke...- xm20k

BTW there is a gentleman on Etsy making vinyl versions in stock looking form and different color variations to better fit the color of your truck. Mine still has the decals but I grabbed a set just to check them against the originals and they match pretty well. Believe he has the Heavy Half... -
