    700R4 Skipping 2nd Gear

Are you confident you have the correct amount of fluid in the system now? Do you have 4th gear or no? How you answer question 2 will determine what I recommend you do next...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

The Transgo boost valve is fine but I prefer the Sonnax version given it has O-rings which completely seal off any leakage between the sleeve and casting in the boost circuit. One way clutches can be installed backwards so make sure you check that whichever OWC you're checking that it spins in...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

When you say, "first gear wouldn't shift until high RPM" are you meaning to say that it's not upshifting into 2nd gear until very high RPM or it doesn't begin to move forward until you have to really put your foot in it to get it moving? Binding in 2nd gear may be caused by a problem with the...

    th400 forward drum front pump

Do you have a question? And that pump part that the two [sealing] rings go on is called the stator. ETA - take the sealing rings off and see if it will go. If it's still getting stuck, yank the new bushings back out, install the rear bushing back in and try again. If it slides on, reinstall...

No upshift from first gear? Plug the speed sensor back in.

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Sorry, lots of addl posts since my last, didn't read them all. That said, I'm assuming you still have no movement in any range, reverse, drive, D3, 2 or 1 - correct? If so, think a couple folks mentioned checking the T-case and/or rear end, which makes sense to do. Rule them in our out first...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Yep, plug that VB with a set screw. When was that picture of the stripped output shaft taken? Is that it's current state or was that taken prior to you rebuilding the unit?

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

The pawl never makes contact with the parking lugs on the output planetary when not in park unless the little pawl return spring was not reinstalled or installed it incorrectly and it's fallen, sitting in the pan. It's also possible the guide plate bolts were not snugged / torqued, worked loose...

    4l80e rebuild gone wrong...

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with it...These units can be a bit finicky however you need to take that stupid HD2 kit out of that transmission and put it on the shelf (can't even recommend you sell it as it would be knowingly passing all of the problems it creates onto someone else). Those...

1977 K10 Scottsdale Transmission wont shift

Post the two-letter code on your ID tag if you know it and I'll let you know if it's a TH475 or HD TH400. The 475s went primarily into motor homes, school buses, box trucks and some diesel equipped C and P series trucks, etc...

1977 K10 Scottsdale Transmission wont shift

Was the transmission just rebuilt or the engine or the entire truck? Not sure if you're referring specifically to an individual component or the entire vehicle. If the trans was just overhauled, take it back to the shop under warranty Regardless of whether it's a TH350 or 400, diagnostics are...

    700R4

Interesting...The case itself is a 1991 model year case, WAM indicates model however I don't know what specific model... What are you trying to install this 700R4 into? A Corvette or a Squarebody truck? Here's a break out of the casting numbers and their respective meanings:

    700R4 from 305 to 350 sbc help

How much power is your new 350 engine putting out (ballpark if not precisely known)? Depending on what you say, that 700R4 may need to be overhauled and strengthened...1988+ 700R4s were a good deal more durable than 1982-1987 units, primarily owing to the better 3-4 clutch packs and larger...

No forward gears suddenly, but still have reverse

Assuming your C10 has a TH350, your low roller one-way clutch has likely failed - common with those transmissions. Anything beyond a stock rebuild should receive a 4L60E center support with new BW low roller one-way clutch assembly...The 4L60E center support swap is drop-in, meaning you don't...

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

You're welcome, Geoduck. Also, dont be afraid to machine your direct clutch piston to add one more clutch and flat steel in an otherwise four-clutch stack up. You can do the same with the forward but it's usually not necessary outside serious HD or high performance.

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

3:23 is fine for a 700 trans, though the motor would wake up a bit with 3.73s, esp when paired with the 700R4's 3.08:1 first and .67:1 overdrive. Put a 2000-2200 stall tc (700R4) and it would make for a nice cruiser that can still get up and go when needed. All he'd need to do is move the x...

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

The TH350C, if built appropriately, is fine for your application. Having TCC enabled will reduce heat somewhat and give a small boost in hwy gas mileage. Main things to do: 1. Sonnax HD intermediate outer sprag race 2. 4L60E center support (drops right in, no mods needed) 3. Sonnax boost...

    Odd delay going into gear

Not sure when @dkraven is going to log back on but will post my diag recommended sequence for anyone else with the same problem who happens upon this thread (note - may not be 100% exhaustive): 1. Check fluid level on a level grade when engine/trans are at operating temp - if fluid is low, top...

    3-4 harsh shift 4l80e

So the problem was a bad maf? If so, im not surprised. They cause all kinds of problems with transmissions when breaking bad. Check the apply strategy tables to see when the TCC is supposed to be locking. Some have the tcc come on at WOT in 2nd to mitigate slip-driven heat build up but it...

    Th350 spews fluid

That could be; wrong dipstick leading to inaccurate fluid level reading, etc. I believe they have different part numbers so may be worth looking up the part numbers on Rock Auto to see if you can cross ref yours against what you see. I use brake cleaner on the lines and cooler but i think...

    Th350 spews fluid

Something is forcing fluid out, it's usually one of two things (high level): 1. Fluid is overfilled by at least a quart or under-filled by a couple quarts and remaining fluid is super heated causing gas-pressure driven venting at the base of the bell housing 2. There's a restriction somewhere...

    Need help with my 700r4

Your 3-4 pack is likely wasted; as @Ricko1966 said, it's time for a performance-oriented overhaul. You can perform a pressure test to see if the TV/detent cable is set up and adjusted correctly. Id also confirm your bracket is giving you the correct TV cable geometry if the carb that's installed...

    Performance 700r4 rebuild

They work well and keep the plate from wearing out at the check ball seating locations...I don't see plate wear as much with the 700R4s as I do the 4L60Es but Torlon is still a good way to go.
