    Silly question, but has to be asked, you didn't put the thermostat in upside down by any chance? Cone pointed up right? Just guessing here but if radiator flow is good which would indicate a working WP, proper rad cap, proper fan, has correct head and manifold gaskets and tstat are all good...

    Tapping the starter case while someone turn the ignition key to start. And if HEI try another ignition module. Just throwing this out there.

    Well, I'm no 'lectrical wiz, I always was under the impression that generators actually charge, and todays alternators just maintain a state of charge, hence the reason for making sure the batt was fully charged before dropping in a new alternator so as not too over-work it and burn it out...
