    Ambulance Vans!

I would love to find a "reasonably priced" one of those to use as a weekend camper - don't care about having a bathroom or kitchen really but would love to have the dual alternator/battery setups with with 110 power and a convenient built in bed.....

    Oil pressure sender stuck.

Actually.....I HAVE had a sudden oil pressure loss while driving. Burst one of the oil cooler lines in an MGB - immediately threw the shifter to neutral and killed the key to avoid eating the engine. Jury rigged the other intact cooler line to loop from the inlet to the outlet, threw more oil...

    Inconsistent tapping from 400 sbc

I had this exact thing happen with my 454 - I was convinced I had a lifter or rocker loose but also inconsistant. When I happened to be poking around in the engine compartment (for something else) I saw an errant flicker down low on the drivers side - #7 plug wire was completely off and laying...

If you converted the power window switch which one would you choose?

Message sent (I think) - not sure if I did it right this forum software is kind of confusing at times....

If you converted the power window switch which one would you choose?

Yes the 4 button switch in the driver's door is the one that I need. I havn't seen a 4 door squarebody in a scapyard in a long time so not much to pick frrom here.

If you converted the power window switch which one would you choose?

I know mine (from Rock Auto) didn't hold up well at all - my original factory switches were still "working" but the clips and bezel were broken so it was replaced with what looked like an identical unit from Rock Auto. A year or 2 later and now I have to use an umbrella to reach across to the...

    Rotate 350 «backwards»

If it is a manual you could just put it in a forward gear (with the plugs out) and push the truck backwards. I've done that on the British cars which don't have an inspection cover. Unless your engine is REALLY stiff (or still in gear!), I'd expect the engine to turn with no plugs before the...

    Reverse Light Issue

When I had my column worked on the reverse light switch was way out of whack (didn't realize it until several days later) - I just had to trial and error it to find the right spot.

Why is my bell housing knocking!

Clutch housing bolt backing out? If it was an automatic I'd start with the torque converter bolts but since its a manual those aren't in existance. I would pull the inspection cover and rotate the engine by hand, look for anything the appears shiny or rubbed like its been hitting something...

    Roof Panel Replacement

Mine is the 120 - I didn't realize until after you asked and I looked at the photo again that they even made a 240 version. I expect that would have more kick.....

    Roof Panel Replacement

I have one - it works pretty well as long as everything is nice and clean, but its also pretty low powered and makes fairly small spot welds compared to the factory ones. As long as you can get to the upper and lower surfaces easily it does work, but the "arms" are pretty short. The electrodes...

    1990 K-2500 Suburban

I have the 1989 version of that one - they went to the R and V designations for these for 1989-1991 so it would technically be an R2500 if its 2 wheel drive or a V2500 if its 4 wheel drive. 2K is a heck of a deal - I'd be tempted to do a 1 way flight and drive home - except I already have one.

    AC Not Getting Cold

I'd second the idea of checking the heater door. If you're freezing up on the evap line but barely anything cool coming out the vents it sounds like you're trying to cool down heated air. Super easy way to test this theory: Turn on the A/C as soon as you start the truck (before the coolant...

A/C stops blowing when I come to a stop??

If the blower is still running but you don't feel any air, check to see if it has shifted to the defogger or floor outlets (or splitting between all 3 which means you don't feel much of anything). I'm guessing a vacuum loss somewhere in the HVAC controls.

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

Do you have the spec on (or are you equipped to test) the current draw of those LED headlights? They look pretty good and I like the glass lens as opposed to plastic, but Summit doesn't list the actual current draw on them.

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

I bought a kit like that for my British car project because they believed in hot-switching everything through the panel, and the aftermarket switches available today aren't really that robust anymore. With LED lights the current draw should be less than originals, so I would think a kit like...

Help! 1991 Suburban cuts out suddenly, immediately restarts. Tried everything.

This sound suspiciously like the problem I had last year, and unfortunately never fully found out "why". A couple questions: 1 - When it dies, do you lose spark AND fuel pulse at the same time, or just 1 of the 2? 2 - Can you restart without rolling the key back to "OFF" first. i chased a...

    broken spark plug

If you do have to pull the manifold, use the heat pre-emptively on all the bolts. My friend Dave and I ended up having to pull a head from a Ford 302 and take it to a machine shop because of broken exhaust bolts, it never ran right again afterwards when reassembled. My sister up in Kansas has...

Turn signal circuit fuse is "hot-to-touch" - excessively warm

My bad - I misread it and thought that he couldn't get the fuse out because it was melted in. That what I get for reading stuff half-asleep.

    Wiper Issues

I'll thow this in as a clarification because I just had to deal with it recently: The hi-low switch control is part of the turn signal lever, but the actual switch is under the dash at the base of the column. There is a metal rod that goes down the column from the lever to actuate the switch...

Turn signal circuit fuse is "hot-to-touch" - excessively warm

Never seen that sort of problem - but if the fuse cannot be removed due to melting itself to the plastic of the holder, I would be inclined to cut it in half with a dremel tool or something to ensure that no current was going through it. If it still feels hot, then there is a short elsewhere in...

    Blown head gasket ?

The EGR valve is one place where the exhaust and intake can intersect, and there are coolant passages in the intake as well, so is it possible you could have a weak intake gasket that is allowing exhaust to put bubbles into your coolant? Once you pull a head, you're into it for a lot of effort...

Best Truck Roof Top Tent for Weekend Camping?

I do a lot of camping because my seasonal second job (January-March) requires me to stay on-site from Friday night (after my regular day job) to Monday morning (when I go back o my regular day job). I have a pretty substantial 10x10 wall tent that just stays set up for those 3 months. Its not...

Show off your non-square project cars.

Those don't look obviously different from a traditional sealed beam, which I do like. A little bit pricey but not outrageous. I'd like to know what the actual current draw is - the main reason I switched as much as possible to LED was to take load off the fairly small alternator. I also...

Show off your non-square project cars.

I'd be curious to see what they offer. I don't currently know anyone with access to Amazon to order them, but I'd like to at least see what is available.
