    First Carb rebuild

^^^^ I use an old retired "Cookie sheet" or sheet pan or baking tray, or whatever they're called too. I use them for working on anything with drippy fluids or small parts.

What size/length/thread pitch bolts for brace on NP208 transfer case?

I think he’s asking for the specs on the two bolts that hold the transfer case brace to the transfer case on the passenger side… I have no idea and sorry not willing to pull one and measure

    LS rear main seal leaking

I don’t know if an “upgrade” is worth the cost but a replacement is worth while if you’re pulling the rear cover. The factory diverters last for hundreds of thousands of miles… I put a $6 Melling diverter in mine

Good R&R 16-gallon gas tank video?

The stuff from LMC is just trash thin felt strips... If I had it to do over, I would have probably cut some strips of viton rubber for the strips instead.

Original Color of Inner Wheel Wells and Core Support?

GM Chassis black, kind of expensive at over $130 gallon considering its ready to spray non catalyzed 1K paint. Dad did lots of show winning GM car restorations and this was his go to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LMMXJ7G/ I used this and it is almost identical to the GM chassis paint but is 2K...

    Stuck ball joint

What @Ricko1966 and @PrairieDrifter said I’ll add you should definitely grease the threads on that ball joint press

Experienced masters, please provide restoration guidance

LOL... It's "Ducats" Mike You're the only person I've ever encountered use that term outside of "work" To the OP: @hoagster , @Grit dog , @Old Guy Bill and @fast 99 all make good points regarding budget. I went over my $15K budget by $5K not including many of the small purchases like spray...

Experienced masters, please provide restoration guidance

Honestly Sir, there is no one specific way to skin a cat (or build a vehicle) I agree with not running 20 year old weather checked tires but would not replace until I was ready to start driving it. Unless the interior has mice/rat odors, wipe everything down and vacuum, buy a seat cover if...

    M122 blown 5.3 in my 99 silveraydo

All this talk about boost reminds me how sick I was of dealing with boost problems… Here’s what happens when the intercooler pump gets shut off. These CP pistons were $799 a pair

    LS rear main seal leaking

Yes, Most likely leaking while running and immediately after shut down. @89Suburban makes a good point about the oil cooler block off, I replaced that one too. I also did a front harmonic balancer seal and valve cover gaskets which I could see were leaking but still had a leak. I bought a...

    LS rear main seal leaking

Below the top of the oil pan, if you look on the PS of the pan you can see where the oil level sensor is. Oil level is close to that. I am in the middle of doing a rear seal on a GMT800 L33... If you're going to do all the work to get in there you might as well do both the cover gasket and...

    Wiring mystery

I wonder if there’s a bad crimp on one of the wires at that junction block….

    Reverse rotation water pump

The OP was asking about Big Block serpentine set ups, I don’t think any of the GMT800 stuff would be compatible with a classic small block but GMT800 did have an oddball 8.1L big block… For a classic small block the easiest would probably be brackets from an early GMT400 (‘88-‘95) and next...

    Ls 5.3 bolting to a TH400

4wd? You could add something like this in the transfer case adapter and still retain the cable speedo drive in the transfer case tail housing

    Ignition Assistance Needed

Well…. The assembly of the tilt column is far more difficult than non tilt so you have that going for you is the NSS doesn’t work out

    Ls 5.3 bolting to a TH400

I’m not the LS guru but maybe @Bextreme04 or one of the others will have info… Maybe there’s a way to flash the VSS out or maybe Dakota digital makes a signal generator I think. I’ve read the DD VSS signal isn’t good enough for making an “E”transmission shift right but maybe good enough for...

Having trouble findind brake drums 9.5" 14 bolt.

Looks like there may be some specs under the paint on the face of the drum. Maybe a part number you could use for cross reference.

    Ignition Assistance Needed

Does your tilt column wobble? If so that’s a whole other job The NSS doesn’t seem to wear as bad as ignition switches do, many of the available replacement NSS are adjustable without tools. I bumped mine and knocked it out of adjustment. One way to adjust the NSS is to put the transmission in...

    Wiring mystery

I admit I was wrong on my statement earlier, I found an old picture of my firewall and it looked almost the same just without the extra cut wire on the left. Disconnect the wires from the junction and separate them from each other then retest the one coming from the starter.
