    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Flaky module? I don't know a test for those other than to swap a "tested" one in as a check. Used to be cheap if you have a spare?

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Slowly going back together: - almost ready to tackle the wiring top side now that I made a little progress bottomside buttoning up. Still need to tidy up the plumbing, mount the shifter pivot plate, and some trans components. Passenger side downpipe/crossover was a bit tight to the frame on...

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Yeah it is a workout for sure! Had to go get my back cracked after. My helper left me hanging on Wednesday, so manned up and slapped that sh*t in myself! Dang two installs in the SAME WEEK! Freakin stoked!!

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Forgot to mention, prior to install, I ran through the prime process and saw 40psi on slow speed, and didn't go much above 70psi maxed out with cold 10w30 conventional oil in it. Was surprised how light/smooth the pump felt once it loaded the drill motor. Pressure test and leak test all look...

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Nice, hoping it all drops in easy! Thought mine would give me a struggle, but it litterally fell onto the block dowels like butter. Best of luck!

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

After a closer look around -- Looks like the converter is fine. After checking some bits, it's "pull-out" is sitting at .235 (15/16), and was advised to use the .090" shims that came with the converter, to bring it to .145" Safe spec is .125 - .187" per circle D so I think she is good there...

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Quick update, Everything lined up so nice, everything fell into place pretty drama free. Found a few small issues to iron out when I get time, one of which is how far the converter is to the flex plate. May be normal, (about .250-.300) waiting to get word back from Brian at Circle D to...

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Everything is ready to slap it all back together, just waiting on my buddy Kyle to get some free time to come give me a hand to drop it in. In the meantime just sorting out all the new wiring, got the overall theory/logic down, just may tweak a few circuits on input from the tuner. The new...

What new tools have you got lately?

Picked up one of the fancy hydraulic flaring tools with some 37⁰ AN dies, have always used the OG screw style for decades, so this is a nice change. Tried a generic amazon brand and that one sucked bad! This one gets the job done so far.

    BBC Clam Shells

Small block or big, the clam shells will be the same. did you use the top set of holes for the new motor mounts? The lower set is for 6 cyl and could cause problems.

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Ended up lengthening the stock linkage rod for the shifter, just used the shank from a 3/8" bolt, gave everything a good bevel and welded on with the mig to add another 2 1/2". New throttle cable in and a new ground strap, because why not? Now struggling with how to get the truck up high...

    Power Tour 2026

Next year hoping to hit the tailgate tour, GM truck fair in Greeneville and possibly C10's in the city down in Atlanta when I get my rig back on the road.

New (Beef Supreme) next to the stock 2 pc driveshaft. Yuge! lol

    Chuck’s engine build thread!

Dang! gotta be frustrating. I know there tends to be a few steps forward, with a step backwards thrown in now and then on these big jobs! Always something right? XD

    Well that sucks

Should just need a new evaporator / accumulator and orifice valve. One thing that will make high side pressure spike too high is if the fan is not cooling the condenser, so make sure your fan is good to avoid any such spikes.

    LWB driveshaft question

Looks like a stout setup. Looks like this one will need at least one 1350 yoke for the rear joint at least. These 1480 U-Joints are a bit overkill and no way I know of to convert to the 1330 yoke, will see what they can do with it when I have it shortened. This one is out of an Allison truck...

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

Just going over some notes before I roll the trans into place. My goal with the 4L80e swap is to rig up the stock shift linkage. Y'all 4L80e swap guys feel free to school me - I know some of the later burbs came stock with a 4L80 or 400 so should not be too lofty of a goal. Apparently I need...

Needed to pull out the universal locksmith tool, made quick work and didn't roach my wheels too bad. Done with the wheel lock things, they suck! lol Just zapped a 3/4 nut onto it, off you go!

    LWB driveshaft question

Very nice, love that bed liner as well. Do you recall the Cap-Cap length for the long bed? C10 Suburbans come in about 72" for the stock 2pc driveline with a 700R4.

    LWB driveshaft question

Yeah it seems GM switched depending on the application. Wondering how the center carrier crossmember clears when switching from 2pc driveline to a 1pc - as I want to avoid cutting it out and making my wet noddle C10 frame any more noodly lol If I can retain it, would make a good safety loop...

    LWB driveshaft question

Thanks for confirming. Looks identical to the one I have. Yeah I knew I had a problem when Mark Williams' told me to pound sand when I told them what I need. I think they only use 4" .083" wall stuff, so they limit to 60" or so. When I talked to some turbo LS swap Burb projects, the setup...

    LWB driveshaft question

Anyone with a long wheelbase truck/Suburban running a one piece driveshaft? I snagged a 5" .125" wall unit out of a 2013 2500 Silverado for a deal. My hope is to have a local shop shorten/balance it to the ~70 inches I need and delete on the 2 piece drive shaft setup in my C10 Suburban. I...

    82 C10 EFI Conversion project

FML Had a feeling this project was going too smooth. 2 of these (15 year old) mcguard wheel locks stripped/cammed out on me. Chiseling them off was no Bueno. They have the hardness of used chewing gum, so will try my luck with an "emergency removal socket" deal to try and break them free...
