    TBI/center bolt valve cover options

So these match up with the locations for the oil fill, PCV, breather? I see these for sale occasionally too and just wondering if ai should pick some up.

    ECM Ground locations

On my ‘87 the other end of that ground strap is screwed into the firewall right next to the A/C evaporator box. It’s a braided strap on my truck. Just follow it from that spot on the firewall to the passenger side head.

hot and rough, running that is

If you replaced the EGR valve you need to make sure you got a correct replacement. I bought EGR valves twice from 2 separate parts houses that ended up being incorrect. They’d bolt up, but the truck ran like crap once warmed up giving it gas. Turns out neither of them were for my application...

1990 R2500 Suburban speedometer not working

1989 was the final year for the mechanical speedo with VSS attached in the back. 1990 and 1991 squares had fully electronic speedos. No cable. The 90-91 speedos had 000000.0 odometers rather than 00000.0 like the previous years and they said “quartz” on the bottom of the face. Here’s a link...

1987 V10 with 1974 engine- need TBI Help

2 o2 sensors? You sure about that? My 1987 V10 350TBI still had the stock y pipe on it when I got it and there was only 1 o2 sensor. The injector connectors are super cheap on Amazon, like $10 for the pair. Easy to change out. There’s a lot of good suggestions on here. You need to get the...

1987 V10 with 1974 engine- need TBI Help

Well, all I know is there was a 160 tstat in my truck when I got it and it absolutely wouldn’t go into closed loop that cold. 1987 V10 with 350TBI. Even after I changed a bunch of sensors including the coolant temp sensor. Changing the thermostat got it into closed loop once it got all the...

1987 V10 with 1974 engine- need TBI Help

Check your throttle body for a vacuum leak at the throttle shaft. The holes in the throttle body itself tend to get wallered out over time and you’ll have a vacuum leak there. 195 degree thermostat isn’t too hot. It’s exactly what you need for TBI. It’ll never get into closed loop if it...

I've developed a whine in a just 10 miles of driving

You’re leaking trans fluid through the T/Case adapter into the T/Case. Common problem. Simple enough fix, just a bit of a hassle to take the T/Case and adapter off to replace that seal.

    700r4 1-2 accumulator spring replacement

Had a transmission shop rebuild a transfer case for me and install it in my truck. When I picked it up they said they’d noticed on the test drive that the 1-2 shift is a little too soft. Delays a little too long. They said it wasn’t a problem now unless I just wanted to take care of it now but...

    The old Fuel Gauge saga!

Replace the printed circuit on the back of the gauge cluster. I replaced mine when I built a factory tach cluster for my truck. I was pleasantly surprised afterwards when all my lighting and wonky accessory gauge issues were resolved as well.

Need a pic of a tank selector valve shield for a 1987 V10.

If you did, that would be awesome. Let me know and anyone got a pic of this mounted on there so I can see how it’s connected?

Need a pic of a tank selector valve shield for a 1987 V10.

The little shield that covers the tank selector valve on my truck is missing, probably has been missing for years. I don’t even know what one of these looks like. I think there were at least 2 different styles of these? Anyway, I need at least a picture of what one on a 1987 looks like and...

What size/length/thread pitch bolts for brace on NP208 transfer case?

Hardware store and parts houses don’t carry the size. Fastenal/Grainger do but they won’t sell unless it’s a box of 10 and they want $25. Amazon.com can’t find anything but stainless and I figure you’d want grade 8 or higher on those bolts. Anyway, there’s a member says they’re sending me one...

What size/length/thread pitch bolts for brace on NP208 transfer case?

So it was like this when I got the truck. Shot motor mounts and loose trans mount and the PO had been driving it around like that for a while which is why I GUESS the case broke where that bolt threads in. Anyway, I found someone parting out a ‘88 Suburban and got the NP208 out of it to reseal...

What size/length/thread pitch bolts for brace on NP208 transfer case?

If so that would be awesome! I’ll cover shipping, message me and I’ll give you my address. That’s exactly what I’m asking for. Anyone know?

What size/length/thread pitch bolts for brace on NP208 transfer case?

My question is in the title. I’m missing one, and don’t want to have to take the other off and leave the brace hanging while I try to find a parts store or hardware store that has one. I keep seeing M16 online and then 1.5 or 2 which I guess is thread pitch and then 40mm or 35mm or 50mm plus...

    GM compass install

For the money you’re going to end up spending on the repro compass, you can pay $3 to get into the pickapart yard, $20 for the autodim/compass/temp mirror and sensor out of a ‘99 Suburban/Tahoe/Escalade, and still have money left over.

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

I went back and checked this morning and that Suburban has 3.42 gears and a G80 in the rear. Just ordered the correct drive and driven Speedo gears for the transfer case with my 3.73s along with the rebuild kit.

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

Any idea what the most likely factory gear ratio would be for a 1988 1/2 ton 4x4 suburban with 350TBI/700R4/NP208? I didn’t think to take a look at the glovebox sticker when I was getting this transfer case and it was raining and just a huge mess. I was planning on just swapping over my Speedo...

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

I see your point. The motor mount to trans cover braces were both missing off mine. Plates at the motor mounts were there, but a bolt hole on the cover was stripped out so I guess someone working on it at some point just tossed those after that bolt hole stripped. I drilled it out, helicoiled...

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

My truck has a brace for sure, it’s still on it, and one of the reasons I’m replacing my Tcase is because one of the bolt holes for that brace is broken off my Tcase. It’s the 88 Suburban I got a replacement Tcase out of that looks to have never had a brace on it. Bolt holes look like there’s...

Transfer Case Info for OEM Squarebodies

Just thought I’d mention this here. Yesterday I got the transfer case out of a bone-stock 1988 4x4 Suburban, 350TBI/700R4, had always heard that 88-89 were NP241. Anyway, the transfer case is a NP208 that looks to be original to the truck. Just saying it looks like even in 1988 GM was putting...

Looking for 8 ohm dash speakers.

Truck has a 2700 ETR stereo in it. Dash speakers are toast. Looking online I can’t find any 8 ohm replacements. Do I just get a pair of 4 ohm speakers and wire them in series? Can I do that? Is there another option? What are y’all using for dash speakers in the stock locations and with the...

    Factory air cleaner/cold air setup?

The stove pipe side on this is drivers side and it’s passenger side on my truck. I’d have to figure out how to accomplish that. I wonder if instead of the spacer I could use the ol’ TBI salad bowl mod on the aircleaner and put that on top of the throttle body while leaving the spacer already...

    Factory air cleaner/cold air setup?

So I came across a dual snorkel off a ‘84 Camaro in a LKQ yard yesterday. Any idea how hard it would be to make this work on a 350TBI or is it not worth the trouble? Went to swap it on my truck and the base sits lower than my stock base and runs into a bunch of sensor brackets and other stuff...
