Anybody used one of these intakes?

Apparently it was a common "thing" for these intakes. All the ones I saw on eBay had the same thing going on. Even the painted ones you could see it. I guess they must have put the brass water passage into the mold first, then poured the aluminum in over it and in some cases the aluminum just...

Anybody used one of these intakes?

I picked this BBC intake up for $30 last night. Had to drive to Jacksonville, but it made for a nice night with the wife and no kids. Apparently this is a factory GM aluminum dual-plane with rectangle ports. I'm gonna plop it on my peanut-head RV motor and see how it runs. Should be fun...

    Help me identify a vibration

Ok, this sounds promising. Let me provide some details: 1. Driveshaft was rebalanced (in front of me) with new u-joints and center bearing. That's probably not the issue. 2. I did not replace bearings when I did the trans rebuild. They all looked good. Output bearing could be the culprit. 3...

    Help me identify a vibration

This is a one-ton with a TH400. There's no TCC. Only one wire goes into the trans, and its for the pedal-switch kickdown wire. So I'm thinking that's probably not it lol.

    Help me identify a vibration

Well I'll check torque converter bolts too. When I rebuilt the trans I installed new ARP bolts and used lok-tight on them, so I can't see that being the issue. But you never know. If only this rain would quit...

    Help me identify a vibration

You I actually talked about that with my Dad. I'm pretty sure the balancer is the original @ 150k miles... Would there be any other symptoms?

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Well I got the pump put back together. I decided to go ahead and get a new pump gear set as I'm pretty sure mine was toast. Figured I'd heir on the side of caution. Bought it for $18 from Phoenix Transmission Parts on eBay. It was at my door in 24 hours, shipped free. Can't beat that! I also...

    TH400 slushy shifting.

Shift kit will make it crisp. I rebuilt my 400 in January and put a TransGo TH400 1&2 kit in it with towing settings. The shifts are progressively firmer the more throttle you give it, but always crisp. Reverse is a bit harsh but otherwise the shifts are EXACTLY what I like. Plus the...

Forget the spacer. Seriously. Get a clutch. It will work 1000x better.

    Bringing back the th350

Take a look at my thread here: http://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/i-knew-this-trans-was-dead-th350-rebuild.21928/ It sounds like you had a lot of the issues I had. All I can say is... total rebuild. "One does not half-ass a tranny rebuild" is my quote of the day. That being said, a good...

Need help with overheating issue on my 77 k10 with sbc 350

I meant that there should be a clutch there. I wonder if that's the problem? Maybe the PO had a problem with the clutch, and instead of replacing it they just removed it? That would pull the fan backwards a good bit, resulting in the problem at hand. A nice new HD clutch will benefit you in two...

I also noticed that your radiator is friggen puny. Is that stock? I know mine is a big block rad, but I swear its gotta be 3 inches taller and about a foot wider!

Need help with overheating issue on my 77 k10 with sbc 350

That fan looks waaaay too far back. Look at the images chengny posted. That guy knows his stuff. If your fan is on all the time then dollars do donuts its not original. Whoever installed it probably was not paying attention to fan depth. It looks to me like your fan could use a little spacer to...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Ok cool. I'm glad the pump halves are ok. I think the $150 it would take to replace them would have made this build unfeasible. On the subject of the pump gears, when should they be tossed? I took a real close look at them, and they look pretty good. No scoring or gouging, just a slight wear...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Just took the pump apart. Is it normal for this "chewing up" of the oil passages one one of the pump halves? It's very inconsistent, not all passages are like this. Notice the bluing of the shaft too. Time for a whole new pump?

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Do you think the retainer can be fixed? Or should I just replace it? So these are the mods it would appear the PO did to this trans: 1. Removed all but 1 check ball 2. Removed intermediate servo spring I'll bet the guy probably didn't use the wave plates either, but I've still got to check...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

I also discovered that the PO removed the intermediate servo spring. Is that normal for a "shade tree" shift kit? Completed disassembly pics:

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Finished up the dissassembly last night. Getting that low/reverse spring pack out sure is a duzy. Now, I'm not sure if I did this or if it was already like this, but would the retainer being bent like this make the low/reverse clutches burn up? Just trying to understand why this tranny grenaded...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at a Dacco 10.75" converter with a 1700-1900 stall. I think stock would have been around a 1200 stall, like my truck. Rockauto has this converter (P# B35) for about $70 after the core return. Is that enough stall for my application? Keep in mind this is in a...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Finally ordered some parts. I'm going for about 75% of the common upgrades. Including: 1. Hardened intermediate race 2. Extra sun gear bushings 3. 4L60E "Turbolator" steels in the low/reverse clutches 4. 5th clutch in the directs 5. Internal dual-feed 6. HD 700R4/4L60E center support 7. Transgo...

    Replacing the Hydroboost....

Hammer and chisel. I did this and after a few pops it started to turn freely. Soak it good with some knocker loose first. I believe there is actually a socket made for this, but I'm too damn cheap to buy something like that. Hammer/chisel works good lasts long time!

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Sweet, that's kind of what I'm looking to do. I just don't want to go quite so extreme on the shifts. I want firm, but not harsh. This is a fairly light Camaro so I don't want to bust the tires loose going into third!! I was planning to leave the check balls in and use a shift kit to do the...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Bought it off some guy north of Orlando. What pisses me off is he said it was a good transmission. Oh well, it was $150, so that's not too bad. I'm looking at about $475 or so for a rebuild, unless I find more issues. That includes a torque converter, rebuild kit, torrington bearing kit, HD...
