    Engine removal tool

I pretty much only use carb plate but it's difficult with the trans. I usually put 1-2 tie downs on just in case. Also, the 1 ton engine hoists usually have a shorter boom than the 2 tons so they are sometimes not quite long enough.

Patch panel to “fix” hole in bed from former 5th wheel hitch??

I have a similar issue on my dually. I removed the tool box and found an 7" hole for transfer tank or something... There is a shop near me who has converted a lot of trucks from long bed to short bed and he has a lot of remnants. I was going to stop by in the next few days and see if I could...

    Got a Dodge squarebody!

I had one lose a hub and wheel while towing my K5 on the interstate just inside of AZ from New Mexico. All we saw was a flaming ball pass us at 65 mph. Then it rolled off the highway and caught the only tree on fire in the while area. Fortunately a trooper drove by with a shovel and we were able...

    Got a Dodge squarebody!

Did Dodge start paint matching them to U-Haul because they spent so much time getting towed?

    Getting quotes for paint/body work

I have a guy that I am trying out now in Phoenix. He is painting my '90 for a reasonable price. He works out of his house and rents a booth for the spray. PM me and in about a week or so, he should be done and you can come look at my truck and decide. My '90 is a driver and I wanted something...

    Dielectric Grease

This came up the other day with a friend of mine who did something with electronics in the military and he said they were taught not to use it for the reasons outlined above. But I use it on just about every connection. I figure if it needs to be metal to metal, it typically scrapes away where...

    Are front wheel bearings adjustable?

2 things... If you are running a large or heavy wheel/ tire, usually larger than 20's, you may need to upgrade your drop spindle to a CPP X10 or Wilwood as they use a hub assembly which mostly resolves this issue. While I have some expensive torque wrenches...I typically use a inexpensive...

4wd High Hump Repop Floor Pan

I think you can pretty much build a brand new cab now. Firewalls, complete door frames, and the floors all have become available in the last year. I don't think I have seen dash metal though?

    Junkyard driveshaft

You should be ok running the junkyard shaft but...I'd double check that both the compressed length and expanded length are the same. It looks like the new one will have less travel possibly and you don't want it to bottom out. If it does, it can split the t-case as the case would be limiting...

swb to lwb bed interchange help

While scary to cut your truck in half, its actually a fairly easy job. If you look at my build thread, you can see where my 15yo did it with no experience with cars, tools, women, etc. and my neighbor and I welded it all up. Just don't rush it. Rather than make your own or z the frame, buy the...

    Differential skid plates

On my K5 I added a Con-Fer truss/ skid plate to the D44 after I broke the D60 getting some air too often. The rear 14BFF, I cut the excess below the rear cover and welded up a skid plate from the pinion back so it would slide over rocks and not get hung up or tear the cover off. I've seen a lot...

    74 c10 5/7 Drop-Will It Rub??

Great example! Yes an increased track width creating Positive Scrub Radius as a result of changing to negative offset wheels.

I believe you are referring to track width.

    74 c10 5/7 Drop-Will It Rub??

While there is no guarantees as there is a lot of factors such as wheel/ tire size, backspacing, etc; the 73-80 inner fender usually is fine on a 5", the 80+ almost always rub. https://inthegaragemedia.com/retrofitting-73-80-amd-inner-fenders-on-81-87-square-body-chevy/

Convert Dually bed to standard bed?

Personally, I'd either continue your search or buy a new bedside. If for some reason you do use the dually bed, I'd be interested in the dually fenders as I like to have a spare set.

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

In addition to what DD stated above, I typically keep a tie-down or two handy. One to hold up misc parts when working and one attached to the coil just in case when removing. Sometimes a pry bar to pop the coil out if it's stuck in the lower arm seat When installing the coils, if using the...

Why does no one make aluminum replacement body panels.

In my mind, there isn't enough weight savings going to aluminum to support sales unless you are an oem trying to up your CAFE numbers. I had a friend with an aluminum sandrail and every few seasons it had to come apart and go into an oven and get heat-treated. It was light and fast but too...

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

I'd check rockauto.com. might be cheaper to replace the control arms then rebuild once you consider your time.

    Stamps or tubes

You need a 2" spindle and 1" coil. For larger brakes you should buy a better spindle. Either the Wilwood or CPP modular are designed for big brakes. If running 20" or larger, CPP x10 modular as it is a hub style. Honestly, I'd buy everything from CPP and see if they'll do a package deal...

    Stamps or tubes

I've built both over the the years. You'll probably not notice the difference in performance on a cruiser, only if you were serious into auto-x. I'd still go with tubular arms though. The factory arms are fine with rubber bushings but seem to squeak when you add poly bushings. If you rebuild...

    Exterior LED accessory light ideas

Yes, exactly. Dirt cheap and pretty bright. I haven't actually installed but have tested in my garage at night. The rocklights are blue to match the truck. 2 are going behind grill to light it up. The 77 is more of a show truck. On the 90 I am adding the led 3rd brake/ cargo light to light up...

    Exterior LED accessory light ideas

Not sure what application you are going for... On our '77, I bought and am adding some of the little LED circle lights for under the hood to light it up when working on it or at a show, etc. I am also adding them on the rear panel behind the seat to light up that area. I also bought 8 rock...
