    10 bolt front axle and 9.5" semi float rear axle on a K20 vs. Dana 60 front axle and 14 bolt 10.5" FF rear axle on a K30. and the frame on a K30 is one inch taller. You will learn alot by the time that you get done. Big project.

    Show us that beautiful Chevelle paint job, please. Just make sure that you have all the right balancing components on that 400 and swap it out. It should be alot more fun. Get some good blankets or fender covers and just take your time and be careful. If you scratch it a little, touch it up.

    Worn out motor. Time for a rebuild. Pull it out, have the heads rebuilt, put in new rings and bearings, gaskets of course, freeze plugs, timing chain. and then wear it out for another 50 to 100k miles, running like a new motor. Much better than working on the heads in the truck. Lots of work...

    454 engine oil cooler housing leak

    Any parts store, Ebay, amazon. The gasket kits are readily available. I bought one for my K30 recently, from one of them. No reason to eliminate the oil cooler if it just needs a gasket.

    I think that we already determined that your motor is probably worn out, and needs to be rebuilt, or at least pulled out and gone through to fix all of the problems that it has. Until you do that we are basically wasting our time trying to diagnose multiple problems.

    You identify the different axles by the shape and number of bolts on the differential cover. While you are under there taking picture of the differential cover, you can take pictures of the tie rod set up and compare it to the picture you have above.

    Wow a 632? How do you get one of those for the street? Sounds like an engineering marvel. I guess you would be able to drive it about 1/2 an hour at full throttle, with both tanks. I look up the part on AZ, OR and Napa, as well as Advance auto to see who has it in stock and the best price. Write down the part number, price, make model etc... on a Post it and go to the store...

    Distributor, Throttle body, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, spark plugs. Dont forget to drain the anti-freeze. Then there is 17 head bolts, since you are counting. Why are you pulling the head off?

    Its not happening on a 2wd without a torch and welder. Not worth it. 35s are for 4 wheel drive trucks. Very hard on a half ton, and would probably suck to drive. Put the right size tires on there and drive the wheels off of it!! Advice.

    I usually, (mostly always) have to do everything at least twice. The first time to figure out what is important, and the second time to do everything right. Its usually easier the second time.     SM465 stands for "Syncro-mesh". It takes Syncro-mesh gear oil. I think Pennzoil makes some. You have to be careful about putting modern stuff in there, it will eat up the brass syncros.

    I have had 3 cars with a 307 in them before. All were fun to drive. More fun than not being able to drive them, because I wanted a bigger motor. I would rather have a 307 than a 305 or 283. Go for it.

    K20 pulling 19k lbs...

    Find a modern Diesel truck, used for about 10k, and dump 10k into it and you will still be ahead, and safe. You can enjoy your fifth wheel then, instead of spending all of your time and money building something that isn't meant to be... Sounds fun, but really, it will never be what you want it...
