Help with C10 Short Box Front Tire Size

Figured as much, even my K3500 (1999) dually c&c shipped with tiny LT215/85r16D HTs instead of a much more appropriate 235/85 radial or 7.50-16 bias ply all terrain.

They also had 195s as an option, at least on the 6 cylinder swb jobs.

    Reusing gears, swapping housings

Haven’t messed with gearing since the early 90s, mostly on 9” Fords, 8.75” Mopars or Dana 44/60/70/80. The set in the rotten 92 10 bolt look brand new, the set in the 85 10 bolt look brand new. Milling marks in the gears look factory fresh. No glitter/water in the gear oil of either.

Edelbrock Carb and original Air cleaner

Current set up for my tbi to 4bbl swap engine… If you were to run a Qjet, the single mounting bolt tbi air cleaner drops right on. And you can plumb it to the core support air induction port. To run that same air cleaner on the 1406 or 1906 (AVS2) for my other trucks? Dremel and engraving burr...

    TBI/center bolt valve cover options

Those are what is going on my carb conversion Vortec 350, with the passenger rear oil filler assembly off a factory carbed 4.3L V6… Replacing the stock solid “pop in” oil filler plug with a “pop in” breather… PCV will be in the driver side valve cover, plumbed to a 650cfm AVS2 “carbon dater”…;)

    Reusing gears, swapping housings

Truck shipped as a 4.3/Th400/open 2.73 rear gears with 205/75r15 tires. Getting 350 swapped, staying Th400, going with 285/70r15 rears. GPS speedometer, so no concerns in that department. My engine donor is a 4wd with 3.42 gears. Are the splines likely the same 85 2wd vs 92 4wd? The 92 has...

Help with C10 Short Box Front Tire Size

I prefer to run what used to be called “Big & Littles” on 2wd trucks. Ralph, our 85 swb, shipped new with 15x6 rally wheels and P205/75r15 car type tires. Way too little on a stock ride height. Next was P215/75r15s, then a set of LT235/75r15. Better, but still too small. With the rear axle...

Custom wood door trim w/pull strap

Gonna be awhile. Lisa dropped out of the SCA/RenFaire scene again. I still play, but the C10 and K3500 repairs are more important right now. Her car is falling apart, has cancer again, priorities.

Need advice on what to do.

You moved to the civilized part of the state… Loved being east of the rock pile. Last pic I saw of Mt Rainier it was getting nekkid, quickly. Be glad to send winters back to there, upsets the resident gator population in sw TN…

Is there a reliable source for dually fenders?

Not so much actually. Relocate the bed brace rods. Black edging on the cut part of the bed.

Is there a reliable source for dually fenders?

You trim through the outer bedside, bolt them to the inner bed wall. Basically gives 50-75% more coverage, allowing more of a “super single” rear tire.

Is there a reliable source for dually fenders?

There are whole C30s on FB marketplace here for that kind of money. Rust buckets, but usually have good glass and fenders.

Is there a reliable source for dually fenders?

Buy a set of steel stepside fenders… Trim the wheel arch of the bed to suit… Drill mounting holes, bolt them in. Doing the same with an older Dodge. Turning a D100 (2wd 1/2t) into a W200 (4wd 3/4t) brush truck. Yes, I will freely admit that I am strange…

    Need real-world exhaust advise

Ralph is getting 350 swapped, soon. Extrude honed 1992 manifolds, 2.5” pipes into a 2 in 2 out baffled X muffler, dual glasspacks, to turn outs/turn downs. Have an all 2.5” on a Vortec 350, backed by an NV4500. Ran a Temu sourced chambered X muffler, no tails or turn downs. Sounded great...

Custom wood door trim w/pull strap

I hate carpet on the doors, so… Replicating these in real wood. Have old growth white oak cured in the barn for at least 20 years. Will mill out slabs later this spring.

Custom wood door trim w/pull strap

Wood is easy. Stacked leather washer knife handle style mixed hardwood sword scabbard. Spanish Cedar, Ash, Maple, Cocobolo. Simple.

Custom wood door trim w/pull strap

Will be replicating the falling apart armrest in a hardwood as well. Cut to match the shape, add a thinner contrasting piece so your fingers aren’t riding on metal, unless you reuse the tin insert…

Custom wood door trim w/pull strap

Not difficult… Trace the chromed plastic in your wood of choice. Cut the corners with a scrollsaw. Round over bit in your router or dremel. Line the plastic drek up to your unfinished wood replacement, mark and drill mounting holes. Took longer to stitch that scrap saddle leather over a piece...

    Replacement Seat Opinions

You pulled the headrests?!? Good man, I even dumpster dropped the headrests from my old Procar touring buckets… Seat back has to stay below the rear glass…

    Behind seat

Landscape fabric and fiberglass resin to “harden” the original cardboardesque black thing. If I can then glass in a good behind the panel stiffener? Fishing rod holders, because the gun rack is used for our walking canes.

    E85 conversions considering gas prices

Hmmm… Guess the industrial 350 for the 40s truck, donor sitting since 2017, is getting Seafoamed. No telling how much crud is in a low rpm utility company bucket truck… Donor engine for Ralph has been sitting since 2021 or 2022, might just do it before the regasketing and new oil pan.
