    3 minute battery life…?

Battery is always charged for my trailer winch. All of my spare Group 78s are cores.

    3 minute battery life…?

And zero welding done to the truck, with or without battery.

    3 minute battery life…?

Battery out that whole time. And plastic on the driver side door because the window is stuck down.

    3 minute battery life…?

    Cables are correct.

    3 minute battery life…?

Tried to crank my truck today. 625a marine battery, fully charged. Truck will turn over, very slowly. Cable end at the battery was branding iron hot… Truck has sat up for a year. Oil is at the right level. ATF may have leaked out. New distributor and eelated including sparkplugs. Tilt column...

    Transmission identification help?

1987 C60 with a governed 2bbl Zenith equipped 350. 4spd manual with pto and tailshaft parking drum. Cab is junk, would like to repurpose the engine/transmission in a different truck. Already going to swap the Custom Deluxe manual door guts/panels onto my 85 C10, tired of pw/pl failures...

    Good rear gears

My 85 C10 swb shipped with P205/75r15s, on 15x6 van rally wheels. Factory Quadrajet equipped 4.3L V6, Th400, and 2.73 open rear gears. Only deviation is I ran it on P235/75r15 ATs. Around town, while it would not win any stoplight drags, it held its own just fine. Fuel economy of 12-14mpg. On...

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

Once you get your equipment installed, tune to Channel 9 and just listen. I live a bit northeast of Memphis TN, cheap Walmart Cobra radio, cheap “braided stainless” coax cable, cheap firestick clone with a cracked cover, so I covered it in heat shrink tubing. Brush up on your Tex Mex Spanish...

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

SWB doesn’t have enough of them… ;) The “grandpa cap” is going back on the truck, so will be facing the same mounting issues. Going to be bumper mounted, and use (horror of horrors) a gutter clip. We had a 64 F250 in college. Twin 4’ Firesticks, over built 35w radio (illegal) and over 700w worth...

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

10’ stainless whip on a spring mount, attached to a stake pocket. Stuff the end in a different stakepocket when not needed. Radio bracket is mounted to the ashtray face. Radio (vintage Japanese made) came out of a late 60s or early 70s motor coach. Whip was originally on top of a 40’ base...

    8 lug slots...?

The Hallibrand knock offs? Nice wheels, would not mind a set if they make a dually version.

    Best tires

Yes. Most people now won’t use them on a street driven truck. My grandfathers were in agriculture, maternal was a farmer, paternal a cattleman. Father in law was a cattleman. Childhood neighbor was a cattleman, horse logger and former muleskinner. If Power King 9.00-16LT was still available in...

    Best tires

7.00-15LT Deestone 503s. Remember the Grip Spurs we all “had to have” way back when? Or the BFG Silvertown Mudder? Still have viable 7.00-15 tube type Silvertowns on a 1949 Dodge 1/2t sporting 1978 Ramcharger tubeless factory wheels. Those tires are over 50 years old and still suitable for...

    8 lug slots...?

Les Schwab was one of the very few things I miss from the PNW. Big O Tire, Federated Auto Parts that actually sell parts, Grange Co-ops, Clem’s Kawasaki (Enumclaw WA), Fred Meyer super stores… WA born and raised, left for good in 2011, thought I had in 1994. Hate to hear that another once good...

    Dually Rims

As long as it is an 8 on 6.5” with an appropriately sized center/register hole… You can run whatever you think looks good. I have Eagle bullet holes on my 99 (gmt400) K3500 cab & chassis dually. Honestly, they look fine, but have a maximum 60psi rating. Fine for an old C20 or K20, or for a...

Adding a swaybar? 85 Silverado swb

Truck did not come with a swaybar. I have a 92 K1500 that is getting a lift and a swaybar delete. Can the 92 bar be retrofit to the 85? Note, the 85 has -0- factory provisions for mounting a swaybar… Could buy an aftermarket, probably “should” just buy an aftermarket kit, but on a leo salary...

    Early 4.3 upgrade?

Has to have a front mount dizzy to justify the swap. Had a 72 Cutlass sourced 455 in a 30’ wooden hulled cabin cruiser. Even seen that heavy (12,00#) up on plane? She’d do it at 1/3 throttle. Got Katrinad in Bay St Louis MS.

    Good ball joint brands

Hate to say it, but they are pretty much all Chinesium now. The higher end line at O’reilly seems decent, have not killed them on a K3500 that gets beat on. My 85 C10 is still rolling straight on the oem installed at the factory. The bushings are completely assed out, but the balljoints are perfect.

    Early 4.3 upgrade?

It’s a hard to find idea in sw Tennessee. As soon as a complete with transmission one pops up, it sells. Ditto 455s, can get Oldsmobile or Pontiac fairly easily, Buick? Nope. RWD Cadillac here I’d have to buy a complete car.

    Tire/wheel recommendations

Made the mistake, once, of buying their Indian script motorcycle tires. Look great, did not last 100 miles. I’ll use them on a memorial bike that will be permanently mounted in an old truck bed.

For my money, since Corky bought out STA, onky for static display use.

    Tire/wheel recommendations

You going for classic bias ply tires or a more modern style radial tire? Bias ply only has 2 answers left, Gateway Bias Buckshots at 34ish inches tall, or sky is the limit Interco offerings. You could get 9.00-16LT Power Kings until a couple years ago, great tire, but, gone now. Modern? I like...

    Early 4.3 upgrade?

Original plan was 350-455 (Buick), 425/472/500 Cadillac, a matching Th400, and slip an Auburn or mini spol in with the 2.73s. Bad back, knees, hips and shoulders.

    Early 4.3 upgrade?

Dang… Gonna have to steam clean my engine/bay and see what it turns out to be. Engine was always smooth as glass, until the distributor, ESC, and carb decided they did not want to play anymore. Then it broke both motor mounts, started dumping fuel, and pouring oil out of the rear main seal...
