    Preferred Differential Lubricant

Hello Team, Just wondering if there's a consensus on the preferred or best differential lubricant, both posi and open. The applications would be: 14 bolt 10.5 full float posi 14 bolt 10.5 full float open Dana 60 front, I believe it's open GM 10 bolt rear posi GM 10 Bolt 8.5" Front, also I...

350 to 400 swap... Worth it?

In My Opinion, Just depends what you want. I'm a big block man from way back. I've got a big block 396-375 horsepower 69 Camaro. Also a 396 67 Impala. Two 454 square bodies, a K30 and a C20. And a variety of small block 350 square bodies, and 350/327 muscle cars. If you want brute torque, doing...

    What is this??

Okay, this is part of the throttle return control (TRC) system. See pages 6E-2 and 6E-26-6E-28. Only exists on HD emissions equipped vehicles. Essentially it's an electro-vacuum system that operates above 1,900 RPMs (1,890 RPM to be exact). Above 1,900 RPM, the system actuates and prevents the...

    Headliner questions

I have used 3M Yellow Supertrim Adhesive very successfully for years. It is made to glue heavy materials such as headliners, vinyl tops, and carpet. If you use this stuff, and follow the directions, you better get it right the first time because it probably is not going to be coming off. Even if...

    Headliner questions

Hi, I am not familiar with the term "snakebite perforated vinyl". I don't really know what the difference is between snake bite and regular pattern. I have attached a pic of the original headliner in my '81 Silverado.

    What is this??

That is called the speed switch. 454 only. It's essentially a relay that's activated by RPM as sensed from the distributor. At 1,900 RPM, the relay contacts close, activating the speed switch valve. Reference Figure 8C-45-CK Series wiring page 2 of 29, from the 1982 service manual, page...

350 to 400 swap... Worth it?

No offense but you have a little math problem there. Based on your theory, a 454 will be 104 horsepower increase over a 350, not 154 horsepower increase. And it's about 200 lb heavier, in stock form.

    Prepping for front suspension rebuild

Don't forget the idler arm. I agree with the previous post suggesting the use of Moog parts. The only way to go for suspension parts. Unless you're trying to keep it 100% factory original, then you have to search for the GM parts.

    Headliner questions

My original '81 K30 Silverado is equipped with the saddle color perforated vinyl. I believe in 1981, the Silverados were equipped from the factory with the perforated vinyl, which was used on the Custom Deluxe models. In 1982 they switched the Silverado headliner material to the foam backed...
