Just bought this 87 square body in TN and it’s now home in North Carolina where i’m going to restore it

Hello and welcome. What is your budget for this? Sometimes people don't realize what it now costs to do a complete restoration. I just made mine comfy to drive and use and spent $5000 after purchase.

What have you done to your square lately??

Drove in the snow last night, with a 2WD pickup with nothing in the bed. I said, Gee, I drove 2WD for years back east, Lets see how Ralph does. Just fine. I have Yokohama Geolanders and am very happy with them.

    Sound dampening

So, while I was recovering my seat, in my standard Pickemup, I laid down sound insulation on the back and under the seats as shown, only. This slight change was dramatic in how it quieted the interior. Nothing in the doors, nothing on the ceiling (its a solid metal cab top), nothing under the...

What have you done to your square lately??

I didn't even have to rebuild it. The secondary air doors were stuck closed as the dampners were removed and not connected (front removed, rear connected to full vacuum. Disconnected the remaining rear ones, and doors now open on demand. A little rough on response, but the truck has its power back.

What have you done to your square lately??

Fixed my brakes without actually touching them. I had a problem with High speed braking (in rush hour traffic that jams up suddenly. Hit the brakes and the rear end would try to come around. My truck is a 250-6 manual with manual not assisted brakes. Long bed, and usually empty. I had a...

    Ls swap mounting issue

Driveline industries in Denver can shorten and lengthen existing driveshafts. I'm sure yours can too. Also, you must ask yourself "where do I want the motor?" How is fan/radiator clearance (should still be big). It seems to me that getting the distributor away from the firewall would be a big...

What have you done to your square lately??

Well, roughing up the paint was hard work. The first coat of coating was awful, streaky. I Made the mistake of putting a matte finish on white paint. Second coat was better (I had enough, barely), but, the paint was chalky before I started this, and the matte finish on white was just wrong. I...

Can the heater core be turned off?

Easy- Build a loop with both ends going to the engine. Just plug the heater core hoses, leaving coolant in them. And connect the two hoses coming off the engine. When winter comes next month, just put the hoses back as they were. If you have the connectors before you do it, you could cut the...

What have you done to your square lately??

I think I fixed my thermostat housing leak. It's leaked slightly since I got "Ralph". I tore it apart a year or so ago, but it did not fix it. It was just enough to lose a quart or two every month. A few weeks ago, I noticed the rad was full!. And the cap "popped" when opened. Checked it before...
