    Gauge needle color?

I think the color probably was originally more red, but they fade to orange quickly. I used a Tamiya fluorescent orange on our square body Burbs and it brightened the needles well.

Bad Key Cylinder? Nope. Bad Starter!!

Or it could have a bad/dead/dying cell... this can happen to fairly new batteries. Had it happen on my truck, on a battery that was about 7-8 months old.

    Starter - Looking for Quality

One thing you definitely want when you get one of the Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction starters (the smaller case starter the later model trucks used) is to have the correct length bolts to install it. When I had to replace the starter on my Crew Cab a year ago, I went to the local Chevy...

    67 Mile V10

In Texas, if the mileage is past a certain amount, it will say "exempt" in that blank. Especially on an older truck since the idea is it's a commercial vehicle....

Help figuring out correct front inner wheel seal

Some companies make that seal like National does, with no lip. Other companies make it with a lip on the back side. I've used both on squares with good results, and we sold them both ways at our parts store.

    2000-2006 3rd row seats

That would make sense. We rarely used the third row in our Burbs, square or newer. Had too much stuff to haul to the swap meets, that needed to be inside. Makes it lots easier to camp inside the Burb too, which we did often.

Trying to identify this color of blue

I remember that '84 well, and as mentioned in another post, I was responsible for washing the Burbs as well as service on them. So I know that Burb was a very dark navy blue, with no metallic in it. The silver looked good when we got it in '92, but even with a waxing or two, by '05 when it left...

Trying to identify this color of blue

That two tone blue was a popular color combo in those mid 80s years. Other similar ones were the dark blue and silver, dark blue and charcoal gray metallic, and silver and charcoal gray metallic. I remember when we drove the '84 Burb, there were many other square body Burbs that color combo or...

    2000-2006 3rd row seats

Looks cool, and simple enough for someone with fab skills. The Tahoe seats must be different than the Burb/Yukon XL/Denali ones, because our '06 Denali was a one piece seat. Heavy sumbitch too....

98' Vortec Block, Timing Cover and Balancer Spacing Questions.

The Vortecs use a plastic timing cover, because of the way it's molded. There is also a provision for the crankshaft position sensor, without which a Vortec engine set up with the fuel injection, computers, etc. will not run. These timing covers are available in the aftermarket, in both aluminum...

Trying to identify this color of blue

Our '84 Burb was this color, with silver on the sides. Very dark navy blue, no metallic in it. Don't remember what the name or code was, and it's long gone from the fleet.

    Father-Daughter Shop Day

Yup that's like going to the local wrecking yard. You learn pretty quickly, how much more you need to walk, when you get tired pulling the wagon with the tool bucket in it... across the yard!

FB Marketplace find near Austin, Texas: 5 aluminum K10 wheels $50

Maybe the Southern heat/humidity is not good for them? Dad and I replaced the one on the '84 Burb, '90 Burb, other '99 Burb, and the Dodge. We also rebuilt the tilt columns in the '84 and '90 Burbs, once on the bench and once in the truck on the '84.

FB Marketplace find near Austin, Texas: 5 aluminum K10 wheels $50

If they're made cheaply enough...90s GM interiors are made of rather cheap and lightweight plastic especially in the cars. Even the trucks are not that great.... We have a cheaper multi function switch on Burb, because it failed when we didn't have much $$ so we bought what we could afford. It's...

FB Marketplace find near Austin, Texas: 5 aluminum K10 wheels $50

Must be an '84 since it shows the dreaded multi function switch. Why GM could not have made that easier to change, I don't understand. I had to replace it on my Dodge Intrepid (with a tilt column, and Saginaw makes the tilt columns for Mopar or at least they did then) and it was a five minute...

Custom made air cleaner housing for my verajet carb.

That came out really nice! I learned about paint compatibility the hard way on some art projects a few years ago. Even though I used the same brand and type of color and clear coats, I did have some issues. Preparation is key on any painting projects!

Custom made air cleaner housing for my verajet carb.

If you clearcoat it you can put striping or lettering on it. If you do the striping or lettering in lacquer, you should be able to clear lacquer on top of it too. Just be sure all layers are compatible....
