While I have your attention! Do you guys have Tonneau recommendations? (As noted, I have not bought the tonneau yet).

1986 C10, long bed (8’)

Again, I know im talking about “security” but I’m realistic.. not expecting bulletproof security. Soft tonneau is 100% doable as long as i can secure it, even from within if I can get the tailgate locked. Im just trying to eliminate the “casual” “kid” “street person/ mall parking lot jiggling handles” type of security. When I have to drive in to Seattle, much of the parking is in outdoor urban lots that have tons of what I’ll call “casual” theft. Unlocked doors, cracked windows etc.

If ya do a search for pickup tailgate locks, a few options come up.

Oh...I misunderstood / misread the OP intent.

Ok...go buy a typical toolshed padlock hasp set.
Get some sticky backed magnet material and stick to the hasp. Then you just put it on your tailgate when you park. Theives will see the hasp and lock and move on. For effect you could paint on simulated rusty screw runs under the hasp so it will look like its been there a while.
