I have done this many times and not cut the strap. But is the pin strong enough? Looks like the pin is still intact in the pictures where the hitch broke.
I am using a tow strap, 3" x 30 ft...is that only for towing? Should it be a 'recovery strap'?

This is my air cleaner housing and the accordion piece that came with this truck may not be right. It is only about a foot long and either fits onto the round adapter on the radiator support or the oval entry of the air cleaner housing.
That 90 deg part next to the air cleaner must be what I'm looking for. I have the short acordian piece,and thought that went on the air cleaner. Thanks for the pic I now see it goes on the front radiator support.
