What have you done to your square lately??

That’s a great idea- thank you. Not sure I trust how neat I can make the edges of that since I can’t hide it with trim so I may become a repeat customer with the upholsterer I found. I need to do something before the Texas summer kicks in, so I will report back sometime soon!

What have you done to your square lately??

While painting my cab ceiling trim pieces, I applied two layers of 80 mil Kilmat sound deadener and a 10mm closed cell foam insulation to the ceiling- tapering off both materials in thickness towards the sides in order for the trim to fit back up. I had a local upholsterer replace the thick (and...

    Headliners

Late to the party on this thread, but this thread was very helpful during my efforts to quiet and cool the Jimmy roof, so thank you [several years later].

What have you done to your square lately??

Nice! This front hitch receiver ($238) went on my ‘84 Jimmy pretty easily. I have 4wd so didn’t need a front hitch to put a boat in the lake or anything, but I wanted to put it on nonetheless. Unfortunately, I do not have OEM tow hooks (and do not want to pay the small fortune they’re selling...

What have you done to your square lately??

It’s a hitch mounted bumper step from Harbor Freight - it’s great to get into the engine bay of a lifted rig! Only con is having to reverse with a tow rope to get it out haha, but can’t really complain for $28. https://hftools.com/app58259

What have you done to your square lately??

the vanity projects continue! I touched up all the badges / emblems on the Jimmy with Testors enamel paint. The grill and headlight bezels have new life with some coats of Krylon Dark Metallic spray paint- I know there is a lot of argent silver debate on GMSB but I wanted to go with something...

What have you done to your square lately??

Took advantage of some open time on my buddy’s lift to clean up some surface rust and remove as much of a brittle, several-decades-old rubberized undercoating as I could on my ‘84 Jimmy. After several days of chiseling, wire brushing, sanding, and cleaning followed by several coats of primer and...

    Center dash speaker options?

Sure thing! Here are some pictures from the install. The corner speakers are new 3.5” Kickers in the original factory mounts. In the center of the dash, I dremeled four small holes that let me mount two additional 3.5” Kickers speakers; the left ties in with the left corner speaker and the...

    Reverse light power...

i was going to add some auxiliary LED lights to come on when i go into reserve but was worried they would be too bright for other drivers in parking lots etc., so i added some auxiliary lights that i turn on with a switch. i don’t use them too often but a bonus is having the option to use them...

    Center dash speaker options?

new to the site and not sure where to post pictures in a place where it would be most helpful for the overall GMSB community, but I installed a retro-modern stereo, four 3.5" speakers across the front dash, two 4"x10" speakers in the back, and a subwoofer under the driver seat earlier this year-...

Anyone used the old ash tray for something (else) that's interesting?

good idea- might do USB ports or a 120 volt plug for my hidden power inverter (future project when it isn’t 110° outside). somewhere online i saw an insert for the rear ashtrays that turn them into cup holders but i can’t find it now. will post here if/when i find that again.
