Leaf spring and other suspension questions

Maybe I missed it earlier in the thread, but have you tried loading the springs? I carry 500 lbs of sand over the axle of my 83 C20. Rides like a dream. Without load it's a bone shaker.

New front suspension harsh on drivers side.

This week I had new control arms, tie rod ends, pitman arm, drag link, and front shocks installed on my 83 C20. Yesterday I picked it up from the shop that did the work (very competent and reputable and used them for years) and on the drive home I noticed that the driver's side front is VERY...

    Interior Trim Guidance

I have a 1983 C20 Custom Deluxe which came basic with no interior molding, headliner, etc. My question is how I go about installing these in a truck that never had them before. I would imagine there's some way to get everything lined up so it fits correctly. All the videos and how-to's I can...

    Weird Fuel Gauge Issue

That's exactly what I was thinking it had to be, but how in the hell does that happen in the first place?

    Weird Fuel Gauge Issue

Well, we have three guys here with the same problem so I'm sure others have dealt with it. Patience. Someone will see this and save us. ;)

    Weird Fuel Gauge Issue

I've searched everywhere and haven't seen anyone else post about the kind of problem I'm having with my fuel gauge. 1983 C20, 6.2 diesel, dual 20 gallon tanks. My fuel gauge seems to be about 1/4 tank off accurate. When I fill it up the gauge reads way past full, but not quite pegged at 3:00...

1986 6.2 Diesel Water Temp Gauge Install.

Should be 3/8-18. But if the original was the single blade terminal it might be 1/2-14

    Help with Drum Brakes

Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd add to this one. I recently had need to replace the front brake pads on my 1983 Chevrolet C20, 6.2 Diesel. I have a semi-floating 14 bolt rear end with 9.5 inch ring gear (3.42) Of course, you need to know whether you have 11 or 13 inch rear drums...

    Water getting in

Okay, in daylight this morning I got a good look in that access hole and also snaked my camera in there. It's clean, no rust or anything. So I sprayed the driver's side of the windshield with the hose for 5 minutes to no avail. No water in the driver's side floor at all. However, I did learn...

    Water getting in

Thanks. I did a search and got a better idea of what I'm looking for. What's the best way to examine the cowl drains? Which I guess is a way of asking WHERE are the cowl drains I should be looking at without admitting I have no idea where the cowl drains to. :Big Laugh:

    Water getting in

Every time it rains I get a little water in the drivers foot well. I believe this large hole may be the culprit. What is supposed to go there? Seems like something's missing. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

1983 original Delco AM/FM intermittent low volume.

I have an 83 with the original radio and single speaker in the center of the dash. For some reason the volume goes very very low and will stay that way until I turn it off and then on again at which point it's normal for a few minutes and then does the same thing. I use an FM bluetooth...

Odd turn signal / brake lamp issue

Hey, thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I started tracing the wires from the rear passenger side fixture and could not find any problems. All the wires were secured in their loom with no areas worn through or anything. Just for kicks I disconnected the trailer wire harness (it's...

Odd turn signal / brake lamp issue

Gave it a shot. No dice. Doesn't seem to be a ground issue because all the lights in that fixture share the same ground Seems like I've got it isolated to the yellow wire that handles the brake/turn signal/hazard filament. I hope.
