    Turns out putting the temp sensor in the intake really is no good

    I just put a new 350 in my '86 Suburban. The dash gauge from the cyl head read 220f....so I shut down the engine. Checked the coolant, all was ok so restarted and it did the same. Called Pace Performance who built the engine and they didn't know except to say it had a 195f tstat in it...

    Thanks I just talked to a rep at Pace Performance. This guy wasn't that sure but thinks in 1986 they went to 1 piece rear main seal. In 1987 they went to fuel injection. So that makes 1986 sort of a hybrid. He stated that if I went with the 2 piece main seal engine ('85 and prior) I would...

    86 Suburban 350 swapping in a crate engine

    I am considering swapping in a 350 turnkey crate engine to replace original factory 350 L. Concerned about accessory brackets as my AC compressor is on driver side and original emissions and vacuum connections. Also if it is a long block I have read that my intake manifold may not fit an '85...
