Getting ready to install a new stereo since the cheapo died. Any ideas on where to mount an Amp in the cab? No room under the dash, maybe on the back wall or on the floor between the seats? It's nothing fancy just trying to get a little better sound.
finally got a chance to swap the castor shims from front to back to try to get rid of the darting left to right eliminated. seems to have worked!!! no binding issue on the front diff with the angle change. hopefully that will be all for the near future!! thanks again for all the input on this !!
yup but by looking at it the pinion angle is not bad with them in or out, gonna put them back to the rear to see how it goes, don't look like any binding issues will happen
just an update on the castor issue. took to Les schwab for alignment check. definitely need some castor work. the shims are on the wrong side of the axle - front ,should be to the rear., minor lower ball joint loose and the toe in is good according to the readout they gave me. I found out that...
this whole issue is probably on me. I changed the front axle out to get matching gear ratios for the truck. I probably didn't pay attention to the location of the shims when I tore it apart!! This getting old **** ain't for sissy"s!!!
I haven't had a chance to measure it! My wife is not good on a tape measure and my buddy has been busy so I went ahead and got it scheduled for the shop on Wed.
Pinion angle is good,so no issues with that,it has room to move without binding. Drove it again yesterday and steering seems lethargic, sluggish response..the current shim is with the thicker end forward, no idea of what the degree angle is
well I am getting old and I found that it DOES have shims but I don't know what the degree is, thinking at this point just a trip to the alignment shop is in order. I am not sure which way the castor is - positive or negative at this point, shims are on the front with the thicker end forward
This question has most likely been asked before. My 87 gmc v2500 has a 4 inch lift. Springs in front, blocks in the rear. The lift was done by previous owner. The truck is kinda darts left or right at times. Spring bushing are tight as well as tie rods and drag links.brand new Redhead steering...
