Tweaking ride height on a lowered '87 R10

Stock shackles, just the axle flip. Looks like the length of the factory shackle could give up an inch or more and still be bolted on. I cant find anything specific though...

Tweaking ride height on a lowered '87 R10

So it's been almost a year since I lowered my '87 R10 Stepside. Beltech 4/6" kit. Originally installed the 1" lowering springs that came with the kit. Later went back and ordered Beltech's 2" lowering spring and installed them. After a year of driving the truck I'm finding that I'd like to...

Thanks for all the help, advice, and comments guys. I can't stop opening the garage and looking at it. Looking forward to a summer of cruising in this thing. Now I just need to get that aluminum LS6 off my buddy and start assembling parts for a swap....

Ended up taking 3/4 coil out which dropped it just over an inch. But man it made all the difference... Finally my OCD is satisfied.

That's the exact problem I'm having. The body line and rockers on my truck are dead level, but because of the difference in wheel openings, it looks like I have negative rake. I'll keep trimming till I get it right...

What setup do you have on your burb? I want my front wheel sitting just like yours is in the pic in your sig.

That would get my wheel opening down just past the top of my tire. Can I run this low without scraping anything? Might start with 1/2 or 3/4 coil and see what I get.

HAHA that was awesome! How much lower were you with 1 full coil? This is where I sit with a 3" drop spindle and 1" lowering spring.

Yeah I realize the errors of heating sprung steel. I'll use a reciprocating saw...

Definitely going to start there. If for some reason it ends up riding like ****, I'll pay the $155 for Belltech's 2" lowering spring...

Thanks for the response, your truck looks great BTW. I had to clearance my lower a-arms for the wheels too. My Belltech kit came with a 1" lowering spring in addition to the 3" spindle, but my stock coils were both broken apparently so other than the spindle, there's not much spring drop...

You might be right. I love the gussetted design of the Belltech bracket, but if it doesn't work, then it ain't much good. Your kit looks like DJM from the silver crinkle coat paint job, am I right? I didn't get shock relo brackets with my kit, but I did get Belltech's lowering shocks...

Got back under the truck after work again today to get pictures and measurements for Belltech. They said they've never seen this issue and that the brackets measure the correct dimension. They asked if the axle was stock (it is), but other than that we're kind of at an impasse. They asked all...

Good advice. Belltech is requesting photos, measurements, and a copy of my invoice. The only thing they could think of is that the brackets are out of spec.
