Steering Wheel Too Close '84 C-10

What Old Guy Bill said: If your steering wheel is dished, try to find one that's not. And decrease the diameter by 2". That's what I did on a 69 that I have.

3” header back exhaust pipe kit for 2wd?

I bought a kit for a short bed C10 from HeartThrob Exhaust many years ago. Actually spoke with Mike, who bends pipes. It was a 2-1/4" kit, but they may be able to do whatever you want. Check out the middle of this page: http://www.heartthrobexhaust.com/manifolddualkits.htm Looks like all...

    255/60/15 vs 275/60/15

I think 255-60 tires look short on a pickup, unless it's lowered quite a lot. And 275-60s are a bit wider than optimal for an 8" wheel. I personally prefer a 255-70s on 8" wheels, like in the photo below. If I had a do-over, I'd go to 17" wheels with ~29" tall tires. But, as we used to say...

    84 K10 full exhaust replacement

Headers don't fit? What a shocker! Seriously, stock manifolds should work fine for your stated goals. Or if 2.5" aftermarket ram's horns clear your motor mounts, they would work very well. Here are some 1997 5.7L manifolds on my 82 C10's mild 350 (RamJet roller cam and Vortec heads). Can't...

edelbrock fuel line leak. Anyone else?

Get in there with an inspection mirror to make sure you don't see any gaps. For years I used a 3/8" hose adapter with nipple pointing down on my old 1406, but it wouldn't totally seal on my new AVS2. Ended up filing down a casting ridge on the carb face that the hose was hitting. Maybe I...

Have a great Snap On dealer finally

https://sunextools.com/pages/warranty-programs However, it's not like they have anyone to stop by your shop every week. That is (or was) the Snap-on advantage. That and financing, I guess. I worked as salesman for a Nissan dealer back in the 90s. Don't laugh--I was between real jobs...

Have a great Snap On dealer finally

I'm not sure how Snap-On prices can be justified even by pro mechanics. After retirement, I worked part-time for a guy with 30+ years experience as a Ford tech, and later as a Lexus tech. He hired me to work in a shop he opened where all we did was work on classics and hot rods . He has lots...

Update on my Ignition Module failure!

Good info. I had never heard of the problem and would have guessed that if the coil secondary winding (output) was open due to a bad or missing plug wire, then there would be 12 volts on the primary winding, but none transferred to the secondary winding when the primary winding "collapsed" to...

Update on my Ignition Module failure!

Not sure. I used mine for the first time in probably 40 years a couple months ago on a Ford 302. Worked like charm. No reason not to run a points distributor if you have one. Points and condensers are still available. I have an old Mallory dual point that I'd try, but it doesn't have...

Update on my Ignition Module failure!

I used this GM distributor on my last truck, and it worked great for the next 3-4 years before I sold the truck. GM 93440806 Paid $147 for it in July 2015. Can't believe it's now $440! I've seen a lot of price increases since 2015, but nothing even close to this. As for modules, I have an AC...

    Whats your opinion these welders?

Around 25 years ago, I bought a Millermatic 175 (230 volt) from a welding equipment store, where the guys took me in back and taught me how to use a MIG. Buying an American-made welder from a local vendor was important to me. Who knows where they're made now, but I'd still buy a Miller for the...

    Good ball joint brands

I've used Moog steering and suspension parts on my last three project vehicles. Never had a problem with any of them. My current truck has >15 year old Moog ball joints, Pitman arm, idler arm, and tie rod ends. Things are still tight as a drum. I do know they are manufactured in several...

    Sound dampening

I'd be concerned that material on the underside of the roof may come loose, due to the roof's exposure to the sun. Then again, if you live in North Dakota... :)

    Harbor Freight Table and carts

I looked at that HF workbench when it was on sale, but found it to be very flimsy. However, nicer ones from Husky and Gladiator are a LOT more expensive. My main workbench is a 28"x80" solid core door bolted on to kitchen base cabinets. There's a 4.5" vise on one corner, and I can pound the...
