    Factory air cleaner/cold air setup?

This is the air cleaner setup on my 82 truck that originally had a 250-six. I used this hose or one similar to it. https://www.spectreperformance.com/9751-air-duct-hose-kit

    HEI Modules

Have to ask why so many spares? I must be very lucky. Because in over 40 years and around 8-10 cars and trucks, including some 70s and 80s daily drivers, I've never had a module fail. I bought the spare module just to have one in case GM stops making them. And they're not getting any cheaper...

    HEI Modules

Here's my spare. Bought it at Rock Auto earlier this year.

    Firewall circuit breaker

Is this what you are asking about? It's a 1982 OE terminal block but with aftermarket wiring, so yours will be wired differently. This one connects 8 gauge wire from the starter BAT terminal to the fuse panel. Small gauge wire goes to alternator sense terminal. The metal strap is just a...

    2 cycle gas mix ratio

It's more a function of the oil than the engine. It's been 30 years, but we always used high quality, name brand oils mixed 32:1 on motocross bikes. Back then it would have been Bel-Ray or oil recommended by the bike manufacturer, such as Yamalube.

    High Compression Woes, good fix??

I have installed dual 1404 setups on a Ford 302 and Chevy 350. I added electric choke kits to the rear carbs. Both engines run great. No issues at all except access to rear carb idle mixture screws and adjusting front carb throttle linkage! Send me your e-mail address via a private...

Air Compressor recommendations within my requirements?

Whatever brand you decide on, my advice is to buy from a local store that sells and repairs compressors. I bought my Puma from Green Valley Compressor in Keller, TX north of Ft. Worth. They are knowledgeable folks who sell industrial quality stuff. The guy I dealt with has been there something...

    Cheap Horsepower

When I saw this topic, it reminded me of a well-used truck I bought back in the late 80s that had a worn-out stock 307 with 2-bbl carb. It didn't choke and sputter but felt very sluggish. The first thing I did, of course, was change plugs and points and check the timing. Little to no improvement...

    "Monster" brand TH350?

    I stand corrected!

    "Monster" brand TH350?

Monster may sell more transmissions that the next 3-5 companies combined. If that's the case, they'll get complaints than any of those companies. I have to wonder how many complaints they actually get about their TH350 and TH400 rebuilds. I suspect the vast majority are about the 700R4 and...

    "Monster" brand TH350?

The last TH350 I installed was one I bought for $150. It was then rebuilt by a GM trans specialist friend of mine who used some kind of GM overhaul kit. He didn't change or upgrade any hard parts, although I think he said the kit's friction material was improved over stock. The PO had...

Steering Wheel Too Close '84 C-10

What Old Guy Bill said: If your steering wheel is dished, try to find one that's not. And decrease the diameter by 2". That's what I did on a 69 that I have.

3” header back exhaust pipe kit for 2wd?

I bought a kit for a short bed C10 from HeartThrob Exhaust many years ago. Actually spoke with Mike, who bends pipes. It was a 2-1/4" kit, but they may be able to do whatever you want. Check out the middle of this page: http://www.heartthrobexhaust.com/manifolddualkits.htm Looks like all...

    255/60/15 vs 275/60/15

I think 255-60 tires look short on a pickup, unless it's lowered quite a lot. And 275-60s are a bit wider than optimal for an 8" wheel. I personally prefer a 255-70s on 8" wheels, like in the photo below. If I had a do-over, I'd go to 17" wheels with ~29" tall tires. But, as we used to say...

    84 K10 full exhaust replacement

Headers don't fit? What a shocker! Seriously, stock manifolds should work fine for your stated goals. Or if 2.5" aftermarket ram's horns clear your motor mounts, they would work very well. Here are some 1997 5.7L manifolds on my 82 C10's mild 350 (RamJet roller cam and Vortec heads). Can't...
