    I always carried at least one extra module in the glove box plus the tools to replace it with and a headlamp. I think it would only take about 10 minutes to replace. If you're replacing one that often you have a problem. Make sure you have clean mating surfaces and use dielectric "grease"...

    Just guessing worn bushings. I owned an '81 Custom Deluxe that was a daily driver for 11 years and it too was wobbly.

    Lost keys

    When I buy a vehicle the first thing I do is get at least another couple sets of keys made and keep one set hidden on the vehicle and another set on a keyboard in the house. I've learned the hard way.

    Get underneath, remove linkage, it's binding, shift to neutral, it should shift freely, align and reattach linkage.

    Repeated cleanings about once a week for a couple months got rid of about 95% of the stickiness on my '75 K/20. Mostly I used soap and water but I'm thinking there are specialty products as well.
