    Thanks for all the opinions so far. The sm465 was a challenge to line up when I did the clutch but only took about 45 min. The sm465 is about 250 pounds so yes that would make it quite a load.

    Thanks so much for the replies! I noticed that both engines that I received the pics of differ in the hose routing. The one has the small one in hose going from water pump to intake manifold and the other one does not. So it must be able to be done either way?

    14 bolt....do I have a 3 or 4 series carrier?

    1979 stock gm 14 bolt with 10.5" 4.10 ratio gears. How can I tell which carrier I have so i can order the right gear set? Changing to a 3.21 or 3.42 Thanks!
